I'm curious what number this car is. I own #004, And I'm pretty sure this car is someware from #000 to #003 most people don't know there was actualy suppose to be 201 cars made #000 was on display and used for advertizing at ACI , And was suposed to be given to Zora after #200 sold witch never happend. And evenualy it was sold at what I was told was a ridiculously low price. The wheels on this car is the early style that was switched to Epsilon wheels later because of problems they were having with them. They subsequently switched out the cars with wheel problems for the Epsilons. Thats why I think it is a earlier model than mine I have the Epsilons. But I don't think the #000 proto type (Zora's) car had the Turbo International air cleaner cover on it that this has so it is probably #001 to #003. I would like to start a registry and find all these cars, or at least the earler cars. Their are several things I heard in this and another vid about this car that are incorrect, But not too far from the truth. The company that buit it was ACI (American Custom Industries) in Sylvsnia Ohio with Zora's aproval (long story). I was told by the owner of ACI there were only 32 numbered cars built and more were built for sevral years after they realized would not sell 200. These cars did not have numbers with a total of about 83 coming out of their shop. That 83 total is proably where the "38" came from. They allso sold some body kits to people who wanted to build their own cars. The wide body conversion consisted of a one peice front, one peice rear, full door skins and a hood insted of GMs multiple panels bonded together. The fiberglass work was said to be the best stuff money could buy much better than GMs fiberglass body work was. The standard mods included wide body, custom velour and leather interior, blueprinted steering box, digital guages, fleece console center guage cluster treatment later they went to wood, Zora insisted on the origanal 53 white and red color scheme, turbo charger witch he had worked on for GM for corvette in 79, Butt they desided not to use, convertable top witch he diaproved of GM putting a end to them in 75. later ACI added other options to try to get the cars to sell like rear spoiler, front bumper cover, hood options, even going as far as ofering differant colors besides white/ red, high performance twin turbo motor etc. But it didn't help the price was just too high to attract enugh buyers at $12000 over the cost of a new corvette. that was alot in 1980.
