@@overthemoon34 it's sad that you so easily look past the fact that he orchestrated and carried out multiple bombings, of which the majority of deaths were civilians. He was a good man in the latter stages of his life, but that doesn't mean his past actions should be disregarded. He was a terrorist and the US had him on a watchlist all the way until 2008 before removing him from that list.

@@xanderferreira1893 He served his time in prison and grew from it, that's the whole point of prison, to grow and improve, I'm very much aware of the bombings he's done, I'm South African, so I'm more aware of the history of my country than you, he was loved by both white and black people.

It wasn't a custom though, the reason they gave black people christian names was because they refused to acknowledge African names mostly due to discrimination and a lack of respect and also because they couldn't pronounce the names, just like the content creator.

Still kind of the custom today. Many black people have 2 names: their English name, and their traditional one. That's because the traditional name can be hard to pronounce, but parents still want to pass on their cultural name. So, you'll often get people called something like Blessing Ntandeku (made up name because I don't trust my spelling). But they'll introduce themselves to whites by "Blessing".

He did not do that. He chose peace above all else and fought against a cause that was terribly wrong. Just because he was imprisoned does not mean he was a criminal. It was the Apartheid in SA that he wanted to end, and even white South Africans hated it. So stop making theories.

It's true that his party the ANC was banned, but the Apartheid regime hunted them down especially hardcore because of their terrorist attacks like bombing civilian buildings and killing hundreds of innocents. YES!! FINALLY SOMEONE MENTIONED THAT!! I hate that they didn't teach us about the bombings in school, they just taught us about the good things. He wasn't just imprisoned because of the rebellion against the apartheid. He was also imprisoned for things like the kerkstraat bombings!

Our first lesson in literature (English) class was about Nelson Mandela and he is a great inspiration to all!! But i wasn't taught that his real name wasn't Nelson :O but it was great to learn about him!! :)

Yeah, he was pretty cool, just ignore the bombing of innocent civilians that he did, not to mention the tire necklaces he used on his own men when they didn’t want to kill innocent people, though I suppose that was more Winnie, but Nelson was still very involved in that part
