Oil reserves in the US can provide opportunities for investors to benefit from the performance of the oil industry and potentially earn profits as the country's oil reserves play a significant role in the economy and global energy markets. However, it's crucial to thoroughly research and understand the risks associated with investing in this sector, such as volatility in oil prices, geopolitical factors, and regulatory changes.

Things are strange right now. The US dollar is becoming less valuable because of inflation, but it's getting stronger compared to other currencies and things like gold and property. Fascinating. I suppose these are "proven reserves," a number that changes as oil is pumped and more is found. Also, the price of oil is variable; whatever these numbers, they will daily change. Also, the quality of oil in each case, whether "heavy" or "Light," will be individually subject to market fluctuations. But a fascinating display, as many of these are. Interesting to note that lotsa oil doesn't mean riches. Government incompetence is a much stronger force.

Even in purely geological terms, I find many of these figure hard to believe. Could it be that "oil reserve" statistics are subject to political and commercial manipulation? (Hard to believe they aren't). They are also parenthesised by the scientific meaning of "oil". Not all oil is the same, some a lot more valuable than others and some a lot more accessible than others.
@Rick_Sanchez_C137_ Жыл бұрын
America lies about ours. Google the definition for “Confirmed Oil Reserves.” According to the definition there has to be a well pumping from a deposit for the amount in that deposit to be counted amongst our reserves, and yet we’ve been doing “exploratory” mining since the 1950s where the oil lease granted by the government will allow a company to go down to the necessary depth, bring up enough oil to have made drilling the well economically feasible and profitable, and then the company has to cap it off after a certain number of gallons have been pulled from it and go start another well…. Once that well is capped that deposit no longer contributes to our confirmed oil reserves, the government has been lying and playing a chess game to keep Americans in the dark and poor (were the government to allow more drilling they could also use it to pay off our national debt, pay each American citizen a portion of the profits [kuwait gives their male citizens about $60,000 per year as their portion of the profits] and Americans would all have more money and thus have more options)…. But congress uses the power to make their buddies rich and then retire to get consulting jobs working for those buddies, consulting jobs being a euphemism for the bribe today for yesterday’s corruption……. In reality The United States has at least 6 times the oil that is known to be reachable in the Middle East….. If you don’t believe me, then start doing some research, it shouldn’t take long for you to find out we have a lot more than they claim. Meanwhile half of our people have been duped into believing we’ll run out of petroleum soon and have to invest in other technologies… what a joke. We should always be researching other technologies, but there is no need to be converting over to electric, it’s a shell game to deprive the people of power and riches….

The problem is a lot of Canadian oil has high extraction costs-offshore, oil sands, or in remote places. Oil reserves include oil that will probably never be extracted-like in the high Arctic.
