Sure do miss getting cozy and watching a video like this when Miss Phyllis was still with us. But feel so blessed we still can visit with spirit just like this now! Grateful!

It's been a rough couple of weeks and really missing my mom. One summer she set out on a quest to make the most perfect apple pie. We were more than happy to be her ginny pig testers for the many pies she baked, each one more delicious than the previous! She absolutely nailed it! Once she saw a recipe in the local paper for these exact apple dumplings and she made them. We were so use to her scrumptious apple pies our immature palettes weren't ready for a apple dumpling so sadly to say these were not a hit. Mom's been gone for 5 years now but I still miss her very much and strangely I started thinking about her apple dumplings. I googled "boiled apple dumplings" and behold Phyllis's video was in the suggestions. I use to watch your mom's video's all the time and it was like a visit from a much needed friend. What a incredible blessing!

When I was a little girl my grandma would make these just like this. Never the ones covering a whole Apple, just like this. I searched and searched and found this recipe and I’m so grateful to have a little taste of home (North Carolina). I love Phyllis’ recipes and I’m so grateful she left this beautiful legacy behind so we can all feel the warmth and comfort of home. What a treasure she was and is ❤️

Until I found your vid, all I could find on the Web were recipes that looked like apples gift-wrapped in dough. Your recipe took me back my great-grandmother’s kitchen when I was a little girl. Your recipe was SO much like what I remember...thank you so much.

Dear Phyllis. I first listened to your prune dumplings, then it went to your cherry dumplings and then to my amazement it went to COUNTRY APPLE DUMPLINGS!!!!!!! I watched them all in that order and said what the heck, at least I can ALLMOST make Grams! BUT then the blessing happened when the last one was REAL Apple Dumplings, God BLESS YOU! I HAVE to say. I am 70, and have been searching for my Gram Lunn's recipe for REAL apple dumplins! EVERY other recipe is like...WRONG! hehehe ...they wrap em, they put noodles in the pot and call it 'dumplings'. (They are NOT!) I CANNOT thank you enough for your treasured recipe. AND I remember the vanilla sauce and wasn't sure how I was going to make it in a made up recipe in my head. But YOU are an angel and so was my Gramma Lunn. My heart is so happy. Love, Janet

Phillis , I watched the video on the RV. It was fabulous . I think I've watched most of your videos. I believe you can do anything you want to. Oh, I know what you mean about prayer. Sometimes I'm a shamed to ask God for the simplest things. But, you know he must not think they are silly. It is just amusing ,for instance w hen I get in my car for a trip, I say, "Lord please watch over me and give me a safe trip , and save me a space in the handy cap parking section". I have two knees and two hips replacements. It's hard to walk very far. I might have to circle the lot a time or two, but, it is always there. I live alone, and he's watched over me for 82 years.

I'm with you on the hulls. I use an apple peeler/corer/slicer because I've got a Granny Smith tree and usually process up to 60 apple pie fillings. It's great by the time the crust is made, the apples are thawed (I put the flour, butter and spices in with the apples when I freezer bag the pies).
