Country, City, Town, Village - Learn English Vocabulary

In this video, learn the difference between "Country, City, Town, Village".
These can be confusing English words, because they all relate to where people live, and they all talk about geographical boundaries.
A country is a place where people live that has a geographical boundary. Countries also have their own language, Government, laws, currency, army, etc.
Within a country, you'll have other places where people live called: "city, town or village".
Here the difference is about the size.
"Village" is the smallest area, and generally quite rural. "Towns" are mid-sized and generally closer in proximity to cities. And "Cities" are the largest and most important economically.
By the end of the video, you'll feel confident using "Country, City, Town, Village".

Hi Jennifer! I live in the South-West of Finland, in the city of Turku (about 200 000 inhabitants). We have a beautiful, picture-perfect archipelago very near. It really takes my breath away! There are hundreds of islands. As an area, Finland is one of the largest countries in Europe, but it is sparsely populated, only about 5,5 million people live in Finland in total. So we have plenty of space to roam around, like you there in Canada!

I live in India. It's a peninsular , the 2nd most populous country and 7th largest country by area. The great Himalayan lies in its north and stretches up to the east. I am punjabi but love my state more than any other state . Gem of my state is SWAMI. VIVEKANANDA Swami means. Great philosopher He made a journey to Chicago in 1893 to gave an introduction of vedanta (ancient hindu religion). He started his speech with " my brothers and sisters in America " in The Chicago parliament and was listen (to) with great honour and got a huge applaud. He was a true path finder of people of my state. He and Rabindra Nath Tagore are treated as a great saints and intellectual personality.

I’m from Mexico 🇲🇽, Mexico is a big country its population is 126. 2 million , It’s funny bc where I live isn’t a big city but think is larger than a town def not a village , Madero City is where I live we have a beach , there’s no movies or malls but just 11 minutes drive is Tampico city there we have movies , shops , bares and so on . I live in small remote village far away from the town.we depend on three shops for buying our basic daily needs, but for big stuff we go to the town to get them.we have many animals such as cows, goats,sheep and even camels. We have two intermediate schools one for boys and another for girls, we haven't secondary school, but we send our children when they reach secondary school to the town. Thank you. I live in Wiangsa town that is far from Nan city about 20 miles. Nan city is in the northern part of my country,Thailand. Wiangsa town is small and quite silent but there are food shops in the high street. There are six gas stations, five clothes shops and some roadside stands. My village is called Wiangsa village where there are four lanes of the road towards Nan city.

Moscow is a big city and comfortable for life. If you have enough money, you can find many things, entertainment, or services here. At least, it was so before the pandemic. Also, to be fair, if I had been rich, I would have liked to live somewhere like in Switzerland. A house, which located in the mountains near blue lakes. To see nature and fat cows grazing calmly on the green pastures. To listen to silence. And, of course, high-speed internet to watch your channel!

That's a good point. "County" refers to "countryside" in this example, which is a rural area outside of the city surrounded by nature.

There are many expressions with "town" in English. But they're expressions. Ex/ let's paint the town red. That means to go out and have a lot of fun. But you can do that in a village, town or city. Remember, expressions use words in a different way, they have a non-literal meaning. And there are LOTS of expressions with "town".

Country: Mexico is rich for their culture. City: the city the Mexico is a the most the world. Town: the town the Atotonilco is awesome. Village: the village the playa is a ranch pretty.
