Country Life in the Bumthang Valley Bhutan 1974 - 1982

Bumthang and Thimphu Bhutan before the land of the peaceful Thunder Dragon (Druk Yul) started its path to modernity.
Marie-Noëlle Frei-Pont was staying with her husband between 1974 and 1982 for a Swiss project in Bhutan. With curiosity and a lot of empathy, she provides insights into everyday life before the great changes brought about by modernity, digitalisation and the opening up of Bhutan.

I love their life. This was happiness life, stay away from urban life. These were no tense protests and toxic cultural trends in the 1970s and 1980s.

Very Good.. Real Life going on , without the invasive noise of techno//radio//television. Calm, quiet and simple.. It was a real privilidge to have lived there at this "old~time" Bumthang//Bhutan time. Much has, since then, been lost//forgotten
