My favorite lesson since I started playing. I watch these videos every day sitting on the bus going into work. This one alone will keep me busy and happy for a little while before I’m looking for more. lol. Great stuff sir. Thank you.

But I do play along too. Not just watching. Watching and playing. But they are so full of information that watching them away from the piano is a must too.

Hi. I really appreciate your comments and feedback! I try to make the lessons manageable, and at a level that is accessible for new piano players. And, I try to work in some theory as it relates to what is going on in the lesson. You’re right about just watching them, as getting an understanding of what’s happening is definitely part of the learning process. When you’re on the bus, you can pretend you’re playing too! You can make the hand movements with hands separately or together. It sounds like everything you’re doing is right! I will have some chording videos for you very soon. So, instead of playing just one chord, you will be moving around in a key. Thanks again for your comments! Keep playing!

Studying this one good. I've got it all figured out. I like the explanation about the 6ths in the right hand and the inversions. I had to get pen and paper to figure it out. Thought you made a mistake but of course you didn't . Excellent lesson including a little practical theory. MY issue is with your first demo up front where at 3:20 or so you begin with the walk up from B to E and you add the chord in your LEFT hand after you initial walk. When you go B-Db-Eb with octaves, easy enough just practice, then E alone, THEN up to an open E chord in the left hand. It's frickin' brilliant but I am curious why you didn't include that in the lesson. It's a great part of the sound. The whole intro only lasts for a bout 10 seconds but it's the most gone over ten seconds in the video for me. The rest is brilliant as well. I also am impressed by how you stick the E in WITHOUT an octave before continuing with the rest of the piece.

I'm glad you noticed that! When doing a demonstration of the style or movement, I often need to play a "bass-chord" movement with just my left hand (I think that's what you are referring to!). Playing solo piano is quite different than playing with a band. In the band setting, you can get away with playing almost nothing in the left hand, and making sure that the right hand is doing all the right things. I hope this makes sense, and I hope it answers your questions!

I understand completely! There are quite a few options of what to do with the left hand. I will be doing some videos on SHUFFLE soon, and I think you will really like what the left hand is doing there, and that you will find it is an excellent pattern for the left hand. I played some of that, briefly, in the video WESTERN SWING IN F. Stay tuned. Try to compare what you see in videos that are on the same subject, but in different keys. I've never taught this before, like this, and so I am learning a lot about how to do that! I would like to do a live stream in the very near future. I think that would be helpful for a lot of viewers like you!

A live stream could be good but I think you answering questions through the comments is also very good. Each person may find different parts of the lessons difficult so you help out in the only way you can. By answering questions.
