Andrew Wasson of Creative Guitar Studio answers questions from off of his Guitar Blog website...
Q). I was wondering if you could show some licks that are using the, "Banjo-Style," roll technique. I like the sound of them in Country and Rockabilly music. I only know two simple banjo-roll licks, but what I'm really interested in from you Andrew, are a collection of different kinds so that I can practice this. Thanks in advance.

A). These guitar licks sound really cool when you get them up to speed. Their name comes from the way they can make a standard electric guitar come across sounding in a similar kind of way as a banjo, or a steel guitar might sound. When first trying them, it might take awhile before you're really going to nail-down their sound. But, after you start getting them up to speed, they'll take on a new life all of their own. In the video I zoom-in on the guitar fret-board, and demonstrate some examples I put together for the video for you to practice at home.
As always, Thanks for writing in!

Andrew's lessons are always good. On lick #1, I found that if I slide from 3rd fret (or 4th, really) to 5th fret using my third finger, instead of a hammer-on, I can play it cleaner and faster; just my 2 cents

"Official" teacher types talk so much. Comes from stretching out those lessons to keep those paying students coming to the music store?

And always remember if you can't play it slow you shouldn't play it fast. Most important thing to remember when practicing with any instrument

Yeah, little dribbles of notes, so essential sometimes to create musical tension and resolve, connectors , good to know a few, takes it outside the box , then back in

6:20...why is it a C7? I don't see a Bflat note anywhere...what determines the chord of a lick?

This would be more useful to me if I could see the other hand, or mark which fingers hit each note on the tablature

The line the numbers are on in the tab tells you which string to play. The number tells you the finger. Index being one
