Wow!! Very Nostalgic to me... I learned your "Country Swing" back in the 1970's while attending college at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, CA. It has a unique 2-count pattern (with no rock step) which is why we called it the 2-count swing, it was also know as the Cal Poly Swing, and was lovingly known as Goat Ropin'.

It's important to point out in each & every video that there are ONLY two (2) dance styles done on ANY social Dance Club/Lounge anywhere in the World. Spot/Rhythm & Progressive/Traveling. The congestion Problem (s) we all run into these days is that Dance Instructors do not continually reinforce (Over & Over/ Ad Nauseum ),...... All Spot/Rhythm Dance Styles should be done in the CENTER of the Dance Floor,......Progressive/Traveling Dance Styles are done in the two (2) outside lanes of the Dance Floor. Slower Progressive/Traveling Dancers on the inside Lane & the faster moving dances in the Outside FAST Lane. This way, we can ALL perform our dance of choice at the very same time to each particular Music Selection. Thank You!

Hey Shalee and Grant -- would be super cool to see some advanced country swing tutorial vids once you get there. Especially the aerials, and how to train/learn them in steps. Breaking it down to "do this before attempting the whole thing" type stuff, as well as if you need other people to spot you, where to position them strategically. Also, a (bright colored or red) glove on each of your right hands would help a ton to keep track of where hands are going during the videos. :)

Good to see young dancers. Your style tends to prompt guys to be too aggressive with actions and if they want to dance for years, a girl’s rotator cuffs can’t take that much stress. So glad you taught to keep the “yank and crank” in check. Also please please teach dancers to respect dance floor space with others. At a bar there is usually very little floor space to do big moves and aerials. If you bump someone, apologize and reduce size of moves. I’ll watch more of your videos and use wireless mics from Rode to help us hear you. Thx.

You can do it! It's really not as tricky as other dance forms because there are no set steps and no one cares if you're doing it "right" anyway. It's all just fun!

Big question for ya guys! How would you recommend dancing if your partner is the same height as you. I feel like it may cause problems in the spin
@MaddieMettler2 жыл бұрын
I’m actually taller than most of my dance partners. For the leader, you just need to exaggerate the arch of the arm for a spin. As a leader, I just make sure to duck slightly and bend my knees a bit more to do a very slight squat.
@KingandQueenofCountrySwing2 жыл бұрын
This is a great answer Maddie! There are always pros and cons to varying heights. Sometimes it is a lot more convenient when you're the same height as your partner though! Just practice and see what works best for the two of you. There are moves we do that aren't as smooth because our height difference is so drastic!
