The reason why you have New Zealand at top is becuase of how they measure freedom. And the biggest is "Economic Freedom" and "upward mobility". In terms of civil freedom, the USA is the best.

Here in the UK we have plenty of hate groups and organised media making sure they stay ignorant of how stupdi this is. Then we have the younger generation who are far more accepting and tolerant than mine or many between them. There are still members of it being taught and absorbing the ignorance, but enough are thinking fro themselves to give me some hope. One of my colleagues was called in because his son and some others were bullying a person for being homophobic.
