This video explains the tragic events of the Red Summer in 1919.
During the Red Summer of 1919 violence against Black people broke out across the country, more than three dozen racial riots took place in cities like Washington DC, Chicago, and Tulsa across the United States. This racial violence so horrific it was called The Red Summer. The Great Migration, demobilization of the military after World War, economic recession and increased competition in the jobs and housing led to violence.

White, in Georgia, born 1959. I never heard any derogatory comments about blacks growing up so I didn't even think about blacks being different. When I grew up and discovered racism, including black, I was embarrased to be white. So why mention all of that? This last year I've been reading a lot of posts like this one on bloody confrontations like Tulsa's Black Wallstreet, 1921. Most of what I read are hosted by white historians. Coming across your post presenting a black viewpoint was a good thing. Anyway, good job, well done. I clicked all the buttons to support you and will look for your next post.

America was very close to a revolution during this period with issues such as this and later the 'Bonus Army' riots. It was reasons such as this that The 1919 and 1920 Firearms Act was rushed into Law in the United Kingdom as a great many combat trained and disgruntled previously conscripted soldiers, can to the realisation as to just how badly they'd been screwed over. For the life of me, I can never understand just WHY my brothers in the USA actually fought in order to fight for a country that could care less about them.
@dpeasehead
@dpeasehead Жыл бұрын
@robertdore9592: Part of the "genius" of the American version of white supremacy has been its ability to teach people that the anti-black racists are basically either right, or that they are all basically "good people" who are merely "confused" and "misunderstood," and that all black people have to do is to obey the laws and serve the nation like everyone else and anti-black racism will eventually magically disappear with no real effort or sacrifice of any kind required on the part of white people or other non black people in America. In times of conscription one doesn't have the option to opt out of military service and once one is inside the military, disobeying orders comes with a high cost. For generations black people believed in "proving" themselves worthy to white people. 60 years after the civil rights movement, that sentiment has begun to fade. Too many promises have been broken and the web exposes all kinds of people to other viewpoints.

An interesting topic you might like to look into is the origin of the 1939 minimum wage. Same time period black construction workers worked for less so they got the best jobs. Minimum wage wasnt to increase the pay for blacks. The secret plan was to raise black pay to the level of white workers. At the same pay there was no incentive to higher blacks so the whites got all their jobs back. I've read bits and pieces of this but I think there should be a lot more to find if you are willing to do the digging. Good luck.

All white people aren't racist, I'm certain you're competent enough to not operate in absolutes. Which is why your anecdotal testimony doesn't remove the fact that racism and all of the indignities and hostilities that accompanied it were rampant at the time. It's still rampant today, despite taking on a "colorblind" form.

EXACTLY! Blacks returned wanting to be treated like human beings, but they were met with unprovoked hate, and lynchings were on the rise, because Whites wanted Blacks in “their place” so the bloody wars against us ensued! Burning our homes, churches and businesses and entire Black Communities, and wiping us out financially. And then they condemn us for not having much financially. Calling us lazy, and each generation had to start over. The government not making them pay for burning us out after some White person lied. And all our people had to pay with their lives and livelihood. And they say, we don’t deserve any reparations.

Well, this is what they don't teach you, those Black soldiers coming home in 1919 were under French command mainly cause American Generals wouldn't serve with them, you all heard of General John "Black Jack" Pershing, commander of American forces in Europe? His real nickname was Ni@@er Jack though none called him this to his face, he served with Buffalo Soldiers in the 1880s and the white Cadets at West Point despised him for it, he did try to get Blacks treated half decently but Wilson would have none of it...anyways, wasn't no Segregation in Europe so alot of those black soldiers who fought for Europeans were treated decently in Europe and they expected the same treatment in America, they were sadly mistaken, they were accused of being Communist and the Red Summer was in full effect...

Also true is the fact that Black ownership of LAND was NEVER higher than then. 14% of american farmers were black. Between 1910 and 1997 90% of those black americans had lost their land. I bet the part he said at the 7:30-7:34 mark went over our people's heads. That quote means that man knew that America was and is our land. He obviously knew that our people were and are indigenous to America and not Africa! I think it was still known around those times, unlike today where our people have forgotten our lineage and bloodlines due to allowing our enemy to teach our children, which is why we have no clue who we are today. We think we are Africans who came here on boats as slaves when it's simply a bullshit story. We are 100% the true, original, autochthonous Americans, which gives us every reason to fight for our land and our very existence. Whether it be thru a large-scale war overseas or a civil war right here in our land against those who oppress us or an invading enemy. Either way, we are obligated to defend us and our lands.
