Fun fandom history fact! Back when the countries were drawn with pure white eyes, people started drawing America with pure black eyes to symbolize America's lack of a proper culture. This is also the origin of America constantly being shown wearing sunglasses: to hide their black eyes. Quite the angst topic, no? Nowadays the sunglasses have lost their purpose beyond looking cool and being an America thing, but it's still neat to think about 😄
