I dont believe any person can listen to this great song by a great man, and not shed a tear.

Grandpa was a member of Luton's United Methodist Church just outside of Goodlettsville, TN. My father served as the minister of that church from 1994-1998. We had the privilege of hearing Grandpa perform "The Christmas Guest" at a couple of Christmas Eve communion services. Dad continued to include it in his Christmas Eve services until he retired from the ministry in 2017. Every time I hear this it reminds me of Dad and all of the Christmases from years past.

I remember hearing this for the first time on "Hee-Haw" so many years ago, and having listened to it, I too shed a few tears. I was trying to find a recording of it, but when I could not, I thought I would go to "Plan B" and directly write to Grandpa Jones, who in turn sent me several 45's. I cannot remember directly if I paid for them (or if I did, how much), or Grandpa simply mailed them. but they were and still are precious to me. How beautiful and even more, how powerful are the words and message of this poem. Here it is in 2020, as I sit here watching this video, I am also seeing and remembering all the country stars pictured here as they tearfully listened in tribute to Grandpa Jones. How ironic it is to see how many of these stars have also passed away leaving their fans with some tears as well for all that they all have contributed to country music over the years. What gifts they have been to all who have listened - and still do - to the songs they recorded. At this Christmas season and all through the year may this message resonate in our hearts and may the beauty of all these country stars, their voices, and their music live on as well. Thanks so much for sharing this video!

It’s December, my niece has died unexpectedly, leaving her family behind. Maybe Jesus was her early Christmas guest? My heart is breaking for us all, I hope she is happy, we were not ready to lose her so I pray he protects her until we are back with her. Amen.

I was moved to find this recitation by a video performed by a trio of tenors called Gentri...where they performed Oh Holy Night...The accompanying video was reminiscent of this theme...thank you for this tribute to Grandpa and the more important message within...Merry Christmas and God Bless!

Kiddos for Country Family Reunion for still promoting Christmas the way it was meant to be. America has enough of being "Political Correct". We have given up too much for people who always want to change our culture and traditions. "Christmas Forever". And yes, Grandpa is sadly missed. mos60
