We have used a hydrualic cylinder as the top link when using a 3-point bale mover. It allows you to angle the spear to pierce bale at the correct angle similarly to the loader. Then you can angle the spear up at the back once you raise the 3-point to help keep the bale in place.

Try moving your third link down to a lower position on the tractor and shorten it so implement is level when it’s lowered, it should tip up when you raise it that way

Evan, before you go thru the work of remanning the hay spear play around with the top link geometry a little to see if will do what you want. ie. shorten the top link or change the pin location to a different hole on the tractor. It might be enough. You may have done that off camera but if not give it a shot. Looks great and got the job done as is so not a failure at all.

Not sure about your tractor but some tractors have more than one location to attach the upper link to the tractor. (3 on my AC 5050). Using the lower link would do the same thing as raising the upper mounting point on the spear.

Just a piece of advice on the sheep hay feeder you might want to get a sheep panel or one with small holes to line the feeder with. It will keep them from pulling hay out and wasting it. And also when they lamb be careful about putting hay in the feeder the sheep will lay under it where it is warm and smush there lambs. Not telling you what to do but just a few things we have learned while raising sheep. Always enjoy the videos.

This year in our area every one is getting 30% off the field. A friend usually gets 200 rounds this year they had 67. So I ended up buying a flat of hay cubes. It should keep my animals over winter and I did get a few rounds ( 3 ) so I can give them some hay bags to keep them busy between feeding. I only have a horse a mini horse and a goat. The goat will get pelleted feed. I nursed an old horse on hay cubes over winter so it should be fine. I'll need to get a heated bucket for very cold days. We do get -35c or less. Will be an interesting year ;) I'm hoping to find a second cut and get a few more, but my petting zoo isn't high on any ones list, & I get that. Some ones lively hood is more important for sure. I can do buckets of slop ;) My winter area is right out my back door lol

i like to put a trailer ball on the top to fit gooseneck trailer hitches, and use trailer receivers as the stabilizer mounts so i can stick a receiver in it and move trailers and such, for now just adjust the top link shorter and it will tip the spike up for now till you can modify the upright,!! i am welding up an adapter for my old jd loader It will have bale spikes in it But i will cut off the old pin mounts on the bucket and weld on a jd quick attach plate and then drill out holes on the spike frame and put some shaft for the hooks to catch on (jd style has hooks on the top and pins on the bottom that have holes to lock it on with) good luck and have fun

I had the same problems with my factory hay spear. It pointed up too much when it was down and down to much when raised. I bought a hydraulic top link and that solved my problem. I have found the spear goes in better if pointed just slighty down when going into the bale then I use the hydraulic top link to point the spear slightly up when raised to keep the bale from sliding off if going up hill. That has been one of my best investments.
This is not what I had planned to do today. But, I need to make sure it doesn't happen again.
