I have a question. Last question to identify relevant cost; why you have considered R450? Why not (450-200=250)? I think R250 will be relevant as Jeff will get R200 either he gets the contract or not. Your opinion please.

Because as he mentioned the R200 is not relevant as the amount will be paid anyway as it is a committed cost so we don't consider it for that example. We take the full R450 into consideration as it is the cost that Jeff could lose or gain if he does not take the contract or take it (Opportunity Cost) which is relevant.

Regarding the question in relevant cost what if Jeff does not work only for client and he is a normal employee will there be a differential cost of 250 or we will take 450R as relevant cost

Sometimes we include fixed/comitted costs? Why would that be? For example electricity.
