Just seeing the end of the video there. Pretty sure 'Danny Boy' is of Derry origin. We have Derry girls of course. The town is called the maiden city because its walls have never been breached. Niel Gannon and one of the lads from Coldplay are from here. We basically use the word 'hi' as a full stop. Everyone from Derry (including hardcore loyalists) call it Derry. We had the oldest department store in Europe (Austin's in shipquay street) before it closed about 12 years ago I think
@richiehoyt8487 Жыл бұрын
There is something about the biggest (or most prestigious) department store in a given town or city that would give one to believe that said department store is about the most solid and secure of that town's businesses. To have seen so many go, starting in the '60's and right up to the present, on account of urban blight, recession, out - of - town 'big box stores' and of course the internet is as depressing as it is startling...

This is informative for sure but you mentioned “the great famine “ a number of times. Although it is still thought in schools as most of our accepted learned knowledge was written by our oppressors. It is however now widely recognized that no such event ever took place in Ireland ( most of our patriotic songs tell the true story ) People starved for sure …..but due to more chilling reasons . It would be much more accurate and appropriate to omit such stories from accounts of Irish history.
