Coup Perdu literally means “lost beat” and allows the clock to show true seconds on the subsidiary dial when the clock is beating as the clock impulses on one pallet.

It’s visible on my iPad but took a few tries to see it. The escape wheel is behind the printed name. The wheel has little pegs sticking backwards, which are parallel to its axis. One peg per beat can pass between the pallets.

Why doesn't the escapement show? I must be really near-sighted.
