I really enjoy your videos and like your setup. I have a Toyota Tundra with a Leer Canopy and we pull a 16’ Airstream trailer. We are looking at an ARB awning like yours and wonder how you like yours. We are from the PNW and can identify with your rain camps. Keep up the great videos !

Thank you! The arb awning is not bad, I've had it for about 1.5 years and one of the legs stopped locking which isnt ideal (now i use hose clamps to lock it lol). I'd probably go for a 180 or 270 degree awning which seems easier to manage as the set up and pack up with the side style awnings can be annoying at times.

They are actually surprisingly comfortable (more so than your traditional camp chairs). The high back versions are probably a bit more comfortable as well. That said setting up and packing up is a bit fiddly.

I ended up going with the Dakota 1400 based on your video's, hard shells were a bit tight for me at 6'1. Although it takes a few mins it's worth it, great tent. I have noticed a few stitching holes letting light through the LST but doesn't seem to affect performance in wet. I also go their new 270 Falcon Pro free standing awning which has the built in led strips built into the frame and it's a 20 second job. Highly recommend for more shelter.

Yeh, ultimately why we went with the soft shell as you get 30-40cm more leg room. We've got a bit of stiching where you can see pinpricks of light but can't say it's noticeable when sleeping (and no issues in the rain:)). Funny you mention the awning as I was just looking at the falcon 270 as they seem heaps better to set up compared to the side awnings. Definitely on the cards when the current one gets on in age.

I've actually been thinking about a 270 awning for a while! I don't mind the side awning especially when you set up the wind break, but a 270 just seems a lot easier and convenient. Would definitely go the 270 next time.
