Oh my god this made me cry so hard. Growing up I lived in an extremely conservative Christian community that absolutely ABHORED in-vitro and thought children born that way were the spawn of the devil. I remember two of my friends, twin sisters, who were conceived this way received a lot of harassment in high school from students and teachers alike. I could never understand how anyone could be so cruel, and watching this story brought many of those painful memories flooding back. I’m so happy these people lived with loving families

I’ve always wondered if my wife and I’s embryos will be donated or if we will terminate things. we will do IVF soon and I’m excited for our miracle family to grow. No idea on the embryo donation. However, this is beautiful. It would be odd to find kids who resemble my wife and I but do not have emotional attachments to us. I heard of a story where a sperm donor also met all his kids and some call him by his name and other call him dad but the beauty goes far beyond the last name and the parent. I think the beauty is in the siblings gaining that strong connection with one another.

If I'm not mistaken, the donor couple believed what God would want was to donate the embryos because most of us Christians believe life begins with conception. As you can see, they chose life (Deuteronomy 30:19). I wish you so many blessings and truly hope you will be blessed with a child!

Specially not after going through the process and seeing women who can get pregnant while smoking or on the streets and see my wife who has never done a single drug or even drinks! struggle with fertility. It's a bridge we will cross later I guess. Personally, I see that I would have a hard time seeing a boy or girl who looks like us not call us mom/dad. But I agree, all life is sacred. This could be a more heartwarming story except for the headings under the Donors are so glaringly incorrect. The Donors should not be referred to the “parents of at least 5 children”. The process of embryo donation relinquishes the parental rights of the Donors. The parents of the donated frozen embryos are the recipients and are the parents of the children. They raised the children which is exactly what parents do. It is insensitive to incorrectly call the Donors the parents. Also, the option to donate is most definitely not one of the “latest options that are available” as stated in this story - that is also very incorrect. Even this story makes that abundantly clear since the children are 18 years old meaning they donation took place two decades ago. The option to donate embryos has been available for several decades. I’m a fertility lawyer for the last 21 years so I’m just trying to clarify these things. Otherwise, this is such a beautiful story of the many gifts this technology can bring and thank you for raising awareness of how IVF creates beautiful families. IVF technology is under attack in this country and we need more stories like this to help protect all the future patients who desperately need this technology to reach their dreams of parenthood.
