Dr Phil's team hacked the kids account thats how they found him. That can be pretty expensive and take alot of time and resources. I doubt the local police would have the resources to track someone down like that. Youd need to bring in FBI or similar and they wont do that unless its a high profile case or theres some sort of immediate danger posed.
@QwertySkill5 жыл бұрын
@@svsproductions1 what im predicting happened is that this family is using a username and password for the nest security cameras that have been compromised from another site. so this kid just finds this huge list of usernames and passwords and randomly tries entering them onto different sites. this is not difficult to do, these lists are easy to find. there is no fancy hacking thing going on, this kid just found the list. he saw what he could get access to and just started messing with them. he is a kid and took it too far but I understand that from his view it would be interesting to see how far he could take it. what I'm assuming Dr. phil's team did is have someone who is at least a tiny bit technologically literate and ask the family for their nest security cam log in credentials. from there the account settings page will have a list of IPs that have logged into the account, so they now have access to the kids IP address. The Dr. Phil team contacts the ISP of that IP address and tells them they have committed a crime and thus the ISP give the Dr. Phil team the name and address of the house that is paying for the internet. The team then contacts the house, talks to the parents, and then finds out it's the kid. I don't know how accurate my guess is on the Dr. Phil thing, but I am almost 100% certain that the random username/password list is how the kid got access to it. This whole thing could have been prevented if the family used a unique username and password for their home security cameras.

So, as you say, just imagine if it were _real_ criminals targeting them. I have no doubt they would have already been burgled already ... if not worse ... And yes, we are too trusting of companies to sell us products that are inherently 'safe', but that is just too complacent. True, they should be making products which _are_ safe -- in this case, unhackable, by using 128bit encryption, as a baseline -- but it also falls to we, the consumers, to actually understand what we are buying, and the associated risks involved ...

My two cents on the outrage over why he "isn't as much a danger:" All we know is Dr Phil said he looks like he lives in his mother's basement the woman quickly replied with "I guess not" without a moment's hesitation. Dr Phil is no idiot. I'm certain he is aware of school shootings and their perpetrators. I have no doubt he understands weak, sickly, homely kids shoot up schools. But he also understands that schools are not the only places these individuals strike. Mass shooters come in all types, backgrounds, races, and professions. Any study of shooting will support that. As for school shootings there is no strange virus in white people that makes them shoot up schools more than any other race. I can't believe I even have to say that. Also note that the accepted definition of what constitutes a mass shooting has changed over the past few years. Therefore Dr Phil isn't dismissing him as a threat for being white, or black, an incel, a Martian, or whatever. it isn't in Dr Phil's nature to dismiss someone as a danger unless there is something else terribly wrong. I'm thinking this individual is dismissed as a threat because of something along the lines of he is 900 pounds and they'd have to cut a wall out of his house to get him out the door or that he is in a wheelchair and has no legs and only one arm. Those can still threats, yes, as anyone with determination can overcome great obstacles to get what they want, but realistically these aren't much a threat.

So taking off the cameras leaves you at an even more disadvantage. You don’t know what that man might do, also considering taking cameras down DOESN’T revert his memory of knowing their names, and where they live. Stupid opinion from a stupid person. What a surprise lol

Society, so called experts, schools, parents/guardians/families/friends, courts, advocates who choose to protect people like this (teenager or adult), prove vile society endangering and eroding irresponsible inexcusable idiots, across the board.

I feel for these people. I hope they prosecute and this kid gets called on the carpet for his behaviour. You just can’t start terrorizing innocent people recreationally. What comes to mind is that family that had rented an AirBNB and the husband worked in IP and out of habit checked for networks. He saw one that was sync’ed to a network of hidden cameras, with several in places that clearly violated privacy and personal security like the bathrooms and the bedrooms and the owner of the property was watching them for his own “viewing pleasure”
