Can confirm, When i was in high school in about 2012, I had a class with 2 black guys in it who teased each other all the time. One of them was named Aaron, at the time I didn't know it was a reference to Key and Peele, but he was called A-A-Ron pretty much every day for several months.

Back in high school I had a teacher freshmen year. pronounce my name Dwight like it was dewite. She said my last name cook so I knew it was me. I didn't correct her. The thing was I had her for one class each year for four years. I never corrected her. All the students my friends started calling me it. They would laugh and joke with me. My senior year last week. After class she ask me to stay back she needed to talk to me. Which I was like oh no what i do. She ask me why for four years did I never correct her about my name how to say it. I said honestly I don't know and you knew you said my name incorrectly. She was like yeah I did freshmen year. Honestly I was waiting to see how long before you correct me. You never did so I just kept calling you it. I said well it wasn't a big deal really. She said you like to avoid conflict don't you. I was like yeah I do. She said here is some free advice. Sometimes speak up for yourself. There will be times you should. She looked at me and finally said my name correct. Said have a good rest of your day. Some reason i still remember that teacher. Only teacher after almost 25 years I remember.
