Couple reacts to LOVEBITES - Thunder Vengeance (Live at Zepp DiverCity Tokyo)

This song blew us away. Absolutely hands down one of our favorite tracks by these super talented ladies. The influences from the old school greats can be heard in their sound. Yet they still manage to retain their own unique style. Thank you all for recommending this one .

These ladies took Iron Maiden/Judas Priest and mixed in some Dragon Force but brought it to a whole new level with their insane talents. Miyako (dark hair does a lot of Gary Moore sounds) Midori (blonde flashy one is Malmsteen influenced). The drummer Haruna at 4' 8" is a beast on those drums her and Akane (Band Maid drummer) are friends. Miho the bassist is the mother hen here and runs this band, while Asami's bluesy vocals carries the song (often with very positive and uplifting messages, not your typical metal lyrics) over everything that is going on on stage!! Enjoy this group if want to see the epic riff battle followed by harmonizing between Midori and Miyako then go with Scream for Me. BTW great reaction!!!

This is the beginning of the Five of a Kind concert which is so freakin awesome. These beautiful ladies of Lovebites and several other new bands that I enjoy and am a huge fan of are like The warning, Motion Device, Liliac, and Greta Van Fleet are keeping rock alive. Full on thrash metal, they are so versatile and can play any style of rock, wait to hear their ballads, classic thin Lizzy, Gary Moore, and Scorpions influences. What's even more impressive is go back and watch the live songs and all are wearing HIGH HEELS. I saw them at download festival and they played whole show in heels.

Besides being a virtuoso guitar player Miyako is also a classical pianist and she also loves Metallica, so your Kirk Hammett comment is spot on and if you watch her riffs you will notice that she does mainly down strikes like Hetfield which is very hard and yet she has consistency and accuracy.

Funny you should mention Metallica and Megadeth in this, as Miho (the bassist) came up with the main riff for Thunder Vengeance from listening to Slayer. Miyako worked on everything else, Haruna laid down the drums for this, and the rest is history. Also for Megadeth, it's a given why you would get that influence from this, as Marty Friedman moved to Japan, now lives there, and is Japan's cultural ambassador to the world. It also doesn't help that his guitar protege is one Takayoshi Ohmura, best known from his work with Babymetal. As for their work, obviously, you get the Judas Priest/Iron Maiden/Metallica influence on this, but if you react to "Hammer of Wrath", you'll get straight up Anthrax vibes. That song sounds like it could have come straight off their Among the Living album, from 86. You could take out the entire band, throw in Anthrax, and it would sound like something they did. That's how good LoveBites is.

It may sound sacrilegious, but honestly, Lovebites have surpassed Metallica in sheer ass-kicking virtuosity. The best way I've heard it put, by a professional guitarist, is that if you could clone Kirk Hammett, you'd get Lovebites. Even then, Lovebites' drummer and bassist are better than Metallica's. And I'm an old metalhead, but when the future arrives, you just have to bow down to it.
