In Aoteroa NZ, we cook a meal in a hole in the ground. It's called a hangi, and it's delicious when done right. It's usually done for special occasions Xmas, Birthdays etc, and also funerals.

Had some kiwi mates do that when I was a kid and the meat turned out amazing. So tender. One of the best meals I ever had...still remember it now 30 years later.

Why wouldn't you serve Lamb Steaks, not a whole bloody shank instead? Lamb steaks are lovely, not too big, not too small and you can cook them on the grill in about 16 minutes whereas shanks have to cook for hours unless you pressure cook them, then they look gray.
