Ok I'm gonna be honest, I think even if she's the voice actor, there are some parts of the way she sings that doesn't fit Marinette's voice. It's probably because she's not "acting" in these covers as Marinette, but she's singing as herself. If she were hired to sing these parts (hopefully in a "special edition" I'll gladly buy if there is one released huhu) we might be able to hear her actually sing as Marinette!

How it was in any way considered acceptable to use two different voices for Marinette is beyond me. If Lou had to be the singer, have her do the acting too- because striking such a sharp dissonance between a character’s speaking and singing RUINS THE POINT OF A MUSICAL.

The girl who sang for the movie is the girl who does the opening song, I guess it was in her contract that if they wanted her to do the rest of the seasons then she would sing for marinette in the movie both for the english and the french version. trust me no one was happy with that

You might know the show is originally French, and the person who sang both English and French songs is the voice actress for Marinette in the French dub. And since she's good with English they probably just asked her to sing everything in English too

@@fbiagent6919 I actually got corrected on this. It is neither of Marinette's Voice actresses, it is in fact the gal who sings the theme song. So neither version got to hear their ladybug sing and everyone was disappointed

The _girl_ 's name is Lou Jean. She is the one who sang the extended theme song in English and French. She also sang The Wall Between Us in French. And her main language is French. She is not a voice actress, just a singer!

@@fbiagent6919Lou isn’t even the French Marinette voice actor. The French actress that voices Marinette sounds just like how American Marinette would sound like in French. Lou just sang one theme song in French. It was totally unfair that she sang just that French theme song and got to sing the songs for this movie everybody was looking forward too. It also took 4 years to make this movie with this advanced animation. Lou’s voice sounds deep in English but her voice is even deeper in French. When I watched the French version once French Marinette’s voice started singing it was a big jump change in the voice that was like “What the, that’s not Marinette”. Same with English, and the fact that Lou actually voiced Marinette in the speaking parts of the songs I am Ladybug, was much worse. It’s just so weird seeing Marinette voice change so drastically. I know she’s a fictional character, but sometimes I like to be in the movie as if she was real, but the drastic voice change threw me completely out of the story. The songs sound so much better when Cristina Vee is singing them. Not just because she’s Marinette’s voice, it just sounds so much higher and more powerful. I’m sure she would have sang it a little differently if she actually sang the song in the movie. Like with more fear and determination, but I love her singing so much.

It is so weird hearing such a deep voice coming out of Marinette. Lou’s voice doesn’t suit Marinette’s character at all, it ruined the point of a musical where the character breaks out in song with THEIR VOICE, Cristina’s voice not Lou. I don’t even listen to the original songs because Lou’s voice is very deep for me to vibe to the songs. It’s like she is singing from the very back of her throat like she’s trying too hard in singing the song, while Cristina just goes with the flow. I wanted to listen to these songs but with how deep Mari sounded, it sounded like Marinette’s character was shut off for like 3 minutes and a third person deep voice took over Marinette’s body. 😭

Late response but yes and no. I don’t believe in using AI for stealing and replicating someones vocals for content, that’s bad. Cristina Vee sang a rock version of this song and I took that and removed the rock instrumental and placed it on top of the movies instrumental. Hope this clarifies things :)
