Couriway, I'm just gonna let you know, I'm not too good of a speedrunner myself, but I did a set seed run on your insane RSG run yesterday. I got a sub-40-second bastion and was able to speedrun it in 10:11, but there are definitely some improvements that could happen. I misthrew my pearl when trying to climb the fortress pillar, so could've saved some time, but what was really interesting is that I got PERFECT rod drops, which is insane. The only problem was the time between the blaze spawns was terrible, and the number of blaze spawns was also pretty bad.

Oh yeah I think Twag did a video on that and I’ve never seen someone use it but it would be really cool. Probably not useful for couriway’s videos for the most part since it’s only useful for teleporting back to somewhere you’ve already been, and that’s usually only good for going back to your nether portal, but couri usually just makes a new portal since nether travel.

I found this weird start to a speedrun seed, where there is a ruined portal, village, and desert temple full of gold, all at spawn. The ruined portal is only one obsidian short, and there is one obsidian, 9 iron nuggets, 1 flint, and protection 4 gold boots. The nether is not so good thou.

that's a dumb idea, to be honest. Speedrunning random words as seeds is almost the same as getting a random seed. There's a lot more he could do instead: 2b2t seed, seeds from other minecraft creators, seeds from minecraft events and championships, seeds from notable minecraft servers, seeds from title screens, seeds in other generation configurations (floating islands, amplified, single biome, and so on), etc etc

Only if it's set seed and you know what the loot is. It can be iron or obsidian, but nothing more really. Speedrunners don't need totems, when they die the run is dead anyway.

Hey Couriway, I just started speedrunning because of you, Dream, and IlluminaHD. I attempted my first ever speedrun last night and entered the Nether at sub-28 (pretty bad) (Ive also never beaten the game before) I spawned by a village and my only gear from there was an iron chestplate... I believe I found some iron and made a shield, Flint and steel, and also 2 buckets (because I can't do the fast portal) I entered the Nether and spawned in a fortress. I killed about 12 blazes and only got 2 blaze rods before dying. I wish you could give me advice to doing better. Thanks for inspiring me though too. (:
