I feel like many times I have been contemplating about my decisions that I have made in my lifetime while my ball goes into the water. Haha. I did figure out the 18th by turning around. Thanks for the video.

One tip for hole 13- if you are not adept at angling it just right, use your first shot to tap the ball to the upper right corner of the tee area- then you are set up for a much easier second shot that arcs all the way round to the green!
@InnerPrincessVR
@InnerPrincessVR 3 жыл бұрын
Great point, if you do struggle with the tee shot, it may be worth sacrificing one for the better angle

I left a comment saying the exact same thing. I left a few more tips as well, if you care to read them. A very cool thing though: the first time I read your comment, I read it as "hole 18". Though I don't know how much it would help, tapping the ball to the right on your first stroke would definitely give you a better line. Time for some testing.

I was able to get a 4 under par on the 18th hole. I thought it would be called a "pelican" but all it said was "Amazing!"
@InnerPrincessVR

Yes I think anything 4 under and better is labelled as “Amazing”. Well done on the 4 under though, I assume you went straight down?
@CitizenZero1
@CitizenZero1 2 жыл бұрын
@@InnerPrincessVR yep. I’ve found that the other best chance to get a four under is on hole nine hanging Gardens Of Babylon easy. I’ve never done it in live play, though. Only practice. Have you ever tried going straight down on the last hole of Shangri-La hard?
@InnerPrincessVR
@InnerPrincessVR 2 жыл бұрын
I have, yes, and I now find that to be the best route to go for 18 on SLH. Once you’ve got the line and pace it’s very reliable

While playing, I've observed a small handful of (imho) important tips which are not in this video. Hole 11: Two points: As a rule, the greater the vertical distance a ball rolls down a slope, the farther along its horizontal trajectory it will travel. Therefore, dropping the ball off of the ledge at the upper left corner requires extraordinary precision compared to the far right, which is relatively forgiving. Secondly, some may find it easier to hit the ball with enough power to bank the ball off of the back wall, near to the upper/left corner. This is both because of the angles of the chute ( See 2:04 ) and the flatness of the rail next to it, which is somewhat forgiving to shots given too little power. Hole 12: If one is willing to sacrifice a single stroke, they ought to lay the ball up to the extreme right corner of the turf at the point where it connects to the bridge. Making it to the pin is relatively easy from this position. Hole 13: Crucially and reliably, the nearer to the first rock that the ball touches down, the nearer to the hole it will stop. This is because landing nearest to the rock requires the greatest amount of power, and that power will carry the ball back further on the return trip. Hole 14: Lastly, one who doesn't trust their aim won't fare well with either the sharp line for the birdie or the ramp on the rock. If such a person is willing to take a risk for the birdie, their best bet may be to lay the ball up a foot or two in front of the rock's ramp, which is easy enough to do since it's only a seven foot putt. Moreover, they're afforded the chance to optimize their angle before the ramp. Even if the developers placed the ramp there on purpose, it would have been far too much work for them go through the enormous amount of putting and tinkering that would be required to place the ramp in the absolute optimal line. It is an estimate. It isn't likely to be optimal by chance either, though it may only be off by an inch or so. Unfortunately, I can't confirm any of this because no amount of advantage will make me not suck at that shot either way.

Great points Lance, to respond to some: Hole 11 - bouncing off the back showed some inconsistencies for me in test, depending on the height you hit the back wall at. Hole 13 - yes, but this extra power increasing the OOB risk if you catch the second rock on the way through Hole 14 - I completely suck at that shot too :)
@lancetschirhart7676

@@InnerPrincessVR I didn't say, but you have to hit the top wall about halfway through before you hit the back wall. This gives it closer to a ~45ish degree angle against the flat part, which is the best way to pop it in. Without hitting that top wall, my success rate is nowhere near just rolling it off. For me, every hole that requires precision in power, like hole 7, 6, 11, and 13, are consistently my worst. On hole 13, well, ok, but that's a pretty big gap. I never hit that second rock. Do you? I'm more likely to accidentally hit the first one, that's the danger for me because I do hit it hard -- as a weak putter, adding a few feet to a 10+ foot putt is nearly as good as subtracting a stroke. I'm about to drop in right now and see if I can learn anything about that rock-ramp angle. Even from 2 feet away, I doubt it could ever be worth the risk for a birdie though. So it's looking to me like proper advice may vary by skill level. I wish I knew just where to aim on hole 9 though.....

@@InnerPrincessVR Haha. I've done hole 18 a few times in practice and played the course a dozen times or so, maybe less, but I don't hit 18 in a very consistent way because I never really figured it out. But now I have. Did a final 10 as a test before logging out, got 5 in and 4 over the back wall, some of those were pretty close. Those 10 were above average but not by much, and anyway, I just figured out the shot so I think I'll get better. It sounds like you're pretty confident in your own ability here so I have a feeling you've figured out the exact same thing. The video didn't go into detail about it, so let me know. In short, pop the ball up off of the "ramp" and bounce it one time, contacting about 1 inch short of and 2 inches to the left of the corner of the "crease", roughly. Hit the bounce there and have the ball skip over the last foot or so. Is that it?

Is it possible to chip the ball in the air from a flat surface?
@InnerPrincessVR

No, not without hitting into another surface, which can then cause the ball to chip up if the power is right
