This monster butchered 2 young girls and then hid in plain sight, living a "normal" life for 6 years. He was not insane then and he isn't insane now, he is a sadistic, murdering monster and I hope he gets the death penalty.

by default anyone who would murder 2 little girls is insane. shouldn't be considered a defense.
@peterjanson1058

Insane doesn't equal evil. I would posit that anyone who would kill two little girls must be either insane or evil, but could certainly be one without being the other. An evil person understands the negative consequences of his or her actions and desires that outcome. An insane person doesn't understand the consequences of his or her actions, regardless of desired outcome.

I have always thought the same thing. Thank you! No one in their right mind would do something like this. But ... they need to be locked up.

Yeah, people who commit these crimes aren’t wrapped real tight to start with. They aren’t well adjusted. An insanity defense is hard to prove, that someone was incapacitated to the point of not knowing right from wrong. They can get him a psych eval & administer antipsychotics to get him in tiptop shape for trial. He likely knew right from wrong when he committed the crime because it seems like he did try to cover up by admitting he had been in the area but didn’t know anything about the crime. Eventually we will find out what happened out there. The case that fits the insanity plea in my mind is Andrea Yates, the women that drowned her 5 kids in the bathtub. I believe her physician told her not to have anymore kids & they didn’t listen - she later suffered severe mental illness. This country doesn’t properly address mental illness, but that’s a whole other topic for another day.

It's called hyper anxiety. He experienced the same thing when he saw the video of bridge guy on the news ... he checked himself into a mental hospital because he could not handle the hyper stress. It's not mental illness ... it's just freaking the hey out of your mind. Can you imagine he probably was just starting to recover from seeing himself on the news for 5 years when the police knocked on his door with a search warrant. He has freaked out so much that he is trying to eat documents so he doesn't end up in prison for the rest of his life.

Look, his wife already knew... she had to. I'm sure she recognized her husband as bridge guy and I'm sure there was much more evidence she saw. She probably confronted him over and over for the last 5 years and the only thing left for him to do is admit it. So he did. Now he is trying to manipulate her like all controlling husband's do with the "If you leave me, I'm going to kill myself."

I totally understand the defense has a job to do.. If the guy is admitting to this, unless the defense strongly believes he is innocent.. Then why not just go guilty.. If they do think Allen is the right man, then why fight for his innocence, so he can loose it again and again and the world looses two or more other innocent young lives... Come on defense advise him to go guilty..

@@14isoldenoughDoubtful. Seeing as he spoke with LE back in 2017 after the murders and confirmed being on the trails at the time Abby and Libby were there and also described in detail what he was wearing that day, which matched exactly with what BG had on. RA did this before he or any of us even knew that LE had that video on Libby’s phone of BG walking towards them then telling them to go down the hill. He pretty much told on himself back then. He wouldn’t have said shit or would have lied had he known LE had video.

Because it's not his lawyers that can change his plea. RA himself needs to change his plea. Also, theres a big difference between a confession and a full confession.
