That's cute but that's not what this is. She doesn't forget events that happened to her as Courteney during that time. She doesn't remember what happened to Monica. Many performers, especially episodic television actors, have this phenomenon due to their use of their short term memory. It's necessary to be able to function. They retain the information long enough to do the job, then they wipe it. Especially sitcom actors who have new drafts of dialogue to learn every day, three weeks a month for 10 years for 236 episodes. They simply can't store all of that information in their short term memory. They have to delete it.

To be fair Lisa admitted, in this same clip, that she didn't remember some details either. I was at a job for 15 years. And coworkers would mention old customers and I could not recall. After awhile its like one big year and too many people you came across. Plus not all of us have the best memories, or we have selective memories.

That was soooo long ago too, and I don't even remember things from last week! I hate it when people tries hard to make me remember something that I obviously can't remember. Maybe it was connected to a bad memory in my head and I already tried hard to forget it, and I eventually did. So last thing I need is someone trying that hard to make me remember! I myself, working as a "host", in a restaurant, can totally relate to Ms. Cox, lack of recalling of especific takes! Like, for instance, one young man came to the restaurant and was staring at me with tenderness..... I really didn't pay attention and, several minutes later, once he finished his meal and when he was leaving, he told me..... "You don't remember that last year you let me enter to the costumers bathroom because I asked you, pennyless, in the front door of the restaurant, don't you?" To be honest, I really DIDN'T REMEMBER that ever happened and all the masked up makes things even worse and hard to recognize someone you've came accross for few minutes!! I never in my life did any kind of drugs, never drank, but I did struggle with terrible depression for years. I'm 32 now but I don't even remember my years of being 23-25. It's not a big deal. hey courteney. i don't remember anything from grades 1 to 12. or the last 20 years other than a few major instances. thats just how the human brain works. all we remember are bad things to protect us going forward. good memories are usually very foggy. and ones like working or every day stuff is completely forgotten. in kindergarten i sorta remember a big wheel track behind the school. in grade 1 i sorta remember my teacher dancing. in grade 2 i sorta remember communion. in grade 3 i sorta remember a girl i liked. in grade 4 i remember a kinex wwf belt i made. in grade 5 i sorta remember an drawing a lifesize basketball cut out. in grade 6 i sorta remember getting beat up by my teacher. in grade 7 i sorta remember the sound a girl made walking by like she was wearing a diaper. probly an oversized maxipad. in grade 8 i remember my desk being moved to the front of the class for acting out. in grade 9 i remember getting kicked out for breaking an exercise bike. in grade 10,11,12 i only remember getting muffins and playing on the computer at an alternate program. i remember sorta going to one of my friends cottage, playing tennis and golf. for another friend i remember throwing snow balls and getting drunk for the first time. for another friend i remember playing basketball. for another friend i remember going to clubs. for all my girlfriends i only remember the first time we hooked up. theres probably only 50 to 100 total memories of my entire life in my head. this is just how people with serious alcohol abuse function. and we all know courteney cox is one of us

Sometimes it’s hard for us to relate to the fact that it was their job that they worked on one episode per week then … moved on! They didn’t review the episodes and they didn’t watch the show.
