Courtney Barnett's higher energy songs are Great and fun. But Her slower songs are Her Expression that I connect with on a deeper level. Depreston has brought out countless tears from me. And as for this Song... Well I'm crying right now writing this as I listen.

Remarkable synthesis of singing and playing producing a communication of thought and feeling as acute and affecting as any i have witnessed.

"I don't really have a house. I don't really have a home. Maybe I belong? Maybe I belong? Maybe I don't" - those lines hit really hard

CB is adept at writing from a conscious-unconscious dichotomy, or traversing meaning 'between the lines'. These are beautiful lyrics.

The last artist I “truly” got into was Tegan and Sara. Courtney is a great musician, for some reason her music really intrigues me, and I wanna keep listening.

She's one of my most favorite singers and artist. I just love her. I don't mean that as loving her in a romantic sense I mean it loving her as a person as a guitarist and artist. However, I'm sure anybody would love her or fall in love with her but then her wife would kick their butt LOL!

Having only discovered this particular piece of her beautiful music today this is only a rough idea of what's going on...she's basically just playing a C major 7 chord (ie: only fretting the a and d strings) and doing hammer on / pull offs on the 5th (a) and 4th (d) strings while adding little flourishes on the higher open strings and occasionally fretting the second string (b) on the third fret...it's simpler than it sounds. If what I've written seems complicated?!? Simplicity at its best...

I love this. I love this type of music that I enjoy hearing and performing myself. However she does it far Better even if we are all unique. Her music is great but this is when I love hearing her. I’ve never heard her do this. She keeps transcending beautifully. Thank you Courtney. Love, sarah www.reverbnation.com/sarahalvarez Facebook
