Table for one - lyrics I've got no one i'm waiting on I just pulled into town an hour ago From the streets of Houston To this diner in Ohio I'm just a'waiting for the bar to open 'Cause me, I'm a little bit lonely A little bit stoned And I'm ready to go home You don't want to be like me This life it ain't free Always chained to when I leave Been dancing with strangers Sleeping in the van when the show's over I've been driving till I get tired Found peace in the redwoods Lost it 20 miles later There is no telling which way this road bends Been wondering how you've been Hoping things have gotten better Hope you finally settle down in Washington 'Cause me... ... 'Cause me...

First time I heard of Courtney was through her touring with Jimmy Eat World for a year.....when I heard her backing vocals on their tour and the Invented album, I was amazed. This performance makes me even more amazed at how amazing she is vocally and also how talented she really is.

First heard this Courtney Marie on the Jools Holland programme here in the UK. Check it out for the great pedal steel guitar that accompanies the song there (it's a wonderful and different sound, but I think right here is the stonger version - love that powerful Gibson ES sound too.)

Saw her solo acoustic a couple of months ago. This version is great with the guitar. but either way the lines "a little bit lonely,a little bit stoned' get me every time.

Paroles 💗💕💗💗 Je n'ai personne que j'attends I've got no one i'm waiting on Je viens d'arriver en ville il y a une heure I just pulled into town an hour ago Depuis les lignes droites de Houston From the straights of Houston À ce restaurant dans l'Ohio To this diner in Ohio J'attends juste que le bar ouvre I'm just waiting for the bar to open Parce que je suis un peu seul Cause I'm a little bit lonely Un peu lapidé A little bit stoned Et je suis prêt à rentrer à la maison And I'm ready to go home Tu ne veux pas être comme moi You don't want to be like me Cette vie n'est pas gratuite This life it ain't free Toujours enchaîné quand je pars Always chained to when I leave J'ai dansé avec des inconnus Been dancing with strangers Dormir dans le van quand les spectacles se terminent Sleeping in the van when the shows over J'ai conduit jusqu'à ce que je sois fatigué I've been driving till I get tired Trouvé la paix dans les séquoias Found peace in the redwoods Je l'ai perdu 20 milles plus tard Lost it 20 miles later On ne sait pas dans quel sens cette route tourne There is no telling which way this road bends Je me demandais comment tu allais Been wondering how you've been En espérant que les choses se soient améliorées Hoping things have gotten better J'espère que tu t'installeras enfin à Washington Hope you finally settle down in Washington Parce que je suis un peu seul Cause I'm a little bit lonely Un peu lapidé A little bit stoned Et je suis prêt à rentrer à la maison And I'm ready to go home Tu ne veux pas être comme moi You don't want to be like me Cette vie n'est pas gratuite This life it ain't free Toujours enchaîné quand je pars Always chained to when I leave Parce que je suis un peu seul Cause I'm a little bit lonely Un peu lapidé A little bit stoned Et je suis prêt à rentrer à la maison And I'm ready to go home Tu ne veux pas être comme moi You don't want to be like me Cette vie n'est pas gratuite This life it ain't free

This is going to sound slightly bonkers but she reminds me of Mark Lanegan. Obviously she neither looks nor sounds anything like Lanegan but what I mean is they are similar in the way their voices just grab you in an almost tangible way and in the integrity and honesty of their songs. Does that make sense.

Very unique, great voice, and writer, not at all like Emmylou, who wrote very little early on. Courtney is a poet!
