I read that Kit and Joe spent a whole day working on that last scene, and it shows. They are top actors who hone their craft to the nth degree. Also, Charlie is courageous, too. In spite of all the bullying and abuse, he never stopped looking for love and trying to care for Nick.

I'm so old that the gathering at Nick's house remind me of the anti-prom in Dawson's Creek where Jack wasn't allowed to bring a guy to the prom. Kit has been amazing this series. If they follow the graphic novels we will definitely see a lot more emotional scenes for him and Joe.

Thank you so much for your comments and insights. I really appreciate your pointing out how you struggled the same way that Charlie did when being bullied the way he was. It’s powerful to hear it from a full adult who has made the choice to be open and vocal online. You are both brave and inspiring. Thank you, also, for mentioning that self-harm is sometimes about control. There’s so much stigma about it that the people I know are just shocked at the mere idea of self-harm of and don’t bother to dig deeper into why someone would exhibit that behavior. Although it’s true that Charlie might have been motivated by self-punishment, the idea that it’s a coping mechanism for his feeling out of control lines up perfectly with his eating disorder and OCD. Self harm is often about externalizing pain, i.e. making the intangible and overwhelming mental pain into something tangible and able to be controlled. Implementing a plan to self-harm, including when, where, and how, takes some of the helplessness away and makes it feel like something can be done to focus the moment in mindfulness. Add to that the endorphin release in the response to the pain, and it can be a very seductive way to get through the worst moments. Of course it’s a highly dysfunctional coping mechanism, but one that makes sense when you give people the safe space to explain what drives them to do it. I just wish more well-meaning people would approach it with a desire to understand rather than just an instinctive desire to fix it.

I can relate to Charlies "it went on for so long i Starter to believe what they were saying". Luckily there was a certain core that they couldnt touch with me. Probably props to my Family. I didnt start to hate myself or self-harm but it did affect my social behaviour. For Charlies eating disorder...disclaimer: I'm no expert...but i've been thinking that being outed unvoluntairily might have - understandably - given Charlie this Feeling, this deep fear of lost controle. Now that his partner Nic is on his way to out himself it triggers him. They both don't know how the reactions are going to be. Now that IT's out and the reactions have been what they have been, the "trigger" in a sense gone. I hope that this eases his struggles just through that and gives him a good chance to heal...or at least get better. P.s. i Messaged you on Instagram

Yes, I did go to my junior prom -- in 1968. The theme had something to do with Alice in Wonderland (the choice of which was probably influenced by the psychedelic music and arts of the era). I went with my best friend, who had asked me to teach him to dance (basic old-fashioned box step 😊 (more formal a step than was needed, luckily)) (Wearing white Converse without being snickered at would have been nice (and better for my back), in retrospect. 😁) Nevertheless, my mom had made the dress (hot pink satiny fabric) and we found accessories at the Salvation Army store. At the time, I felt like the prettiest girl there (not the usual experience for me). It was common for girls to wear their long hair in ringlets at those dances -- My date said he wanted to pull on the ringlets, which bounced like springs; eventually, I said, "Sure, why not." 🤣 * ** *** *** Yes, I'm 72 years old, and despite all the years of hearing misinformation (and prejudices) about what bisexuality was (and seeing/hearing what amounts to bi-erasure), I eventually realized that I, too, am 'bi, actually.' I've been binge-watching Heartstopper (more times than I can count), and I'm glad those who have come behind me will have this show to aid them in their journeys.

I’m still learning stuff about the asexual community but speaking from my own experience in the community (I’m demisexual so I need to have a deeper level of emotional trust and connection with someone in order to be comfortable with intimacy, but I’m still on the ace spectrum) and what I’ve learned from my friends who are also on the ace spectrum, it differs. Some people, like me, still want all parts of a relationship, both the romantic and intimate parts, some asexual people just want one or the other, some asexual people don’t want it at all, some asexual people might choose to be in queerplatonic relationships (which I would honestly love to see portrayed in this show or any show because I feel like it isn’t talked about enough). People have speculated (and maybe it’s canon, I’m not quite sure) that Isaac doesn’t want a romantic relationship or anything more than that so I guess we will have to see how his story progresses! I love this show and all of its representation so much!! ❤

I’m so used to American television, that at the end when Charlie leaves I was so scared that something was going to happen to him. (I don’t read the book for each season until they have aired as to not spoil it for me, even though I have all the books including the newest volume I received a couple weeks ago). I was afraid he was like hit by a car or something. Thankfully they just left us with the “I love you” cliffhanger. I’m sorry that some idiot gave you a hard time about expressing your emotions, you being so genuine is why your community loves you 🫶🏻

From my experience, and what I know of the aromantic and asexual communities, there are a few ways for them to take Isaac's journey. The A-spec communities have terms to describe where on the spectrum of *interest* a person is, rather than just if they're *attracted* to people in whatever way. So assuming they write Isaac to identify as aroace, he could be anywhere from romance/sex favorable to neutral to averse to repulsed, and both those scales are independent of the other (someone could be romance repulsed and sex favorable as an example). So it'll be interesting to see how they take his journey and if or where James fits into it. It could be over, their relationship could be deeply platonic, or they could have a different sort of relationship (and Isaac could still be aroace). I'm excited to see where this goes! And I've only read the webcomic, so I assume that this is discussed in vol 5, but a separate character explicitly describes themself as asexual, and is in some form of romantic(maybe) relationship with someone, so I'm very excited to see that, and also it's possible that Isaac will be taken in a romance averse/repulsed aro direction to act as contrast to the (i believe) demiromantic asexual character

Thanks for being out there advocating for being bi, actually. I think it's human nature to categorize, but like most things in life, sexuality is not black and white. There are many aspects to sexuality and attraction and every one of those aspects have a range. People who can't see being "straight or gay" are ignoring a whole world of possibilities. Human beings are complex and nuanced, but they're trying to shove everyone in one box or another. It's their loss, really.

Courtney, as a straight ally, I feel for anyone who struggled coming out in the past. It does my heart good to see so much more LGBTQ+ representation on tv now, Good Omens, OFMD, It's a Sin and this. Also more representation in mainstream tv such as Dr Who! I hope to see good representation right across the board in media in the future, so that it is easier for kids to be able to be who they are and be happy without worrying about homophobia. ❤❤🌈🌈

I don't think Isaac is using books to isolate himself. He's aware of his surroundings and participates as much or as little as he wants. I think it's a weight off his mind now that he knows there is nothing wrong with him in not having the same feelings as those around him but that is no reason for him not to read. It did my bookworm heart good to see him leading the heroes' entry.
