I watched the movie and wondered why no one had a problem with this. They all praised it as a sweet coming-of-age love story. If the plot was about a 25-year-old man in love with a 15-year-old girl, there would be calls for the movie to be banned and outrage for days.

To answer Courtney's question, the reason why some women (and guys) are okay being a side piece is simply because they know they're not relationship or marriage material. They are much more comfortable being the guy's side piece rather than the actual girlfriend or wife which bares a lot more responsibility and attention than they're willing to give. They know they wanna be out in these streets, yet still want some form of a bond with that guy and will take on that role.
@hisdud3ness932 жыл бұрын
Well as someone who actually was in a (very short) relationship with a girl like this, there is usually not as much conscious decision of "wanting to be out in the streets" as you say, as just fear of commitment and just being emotionally available. They will say they want this life and they choose to be like this, but there is usually some serious lack of self respect going on.

Your comments on emotional and physical intimacy was spot on. Men aren't wired to need that. So it's very difficult for us to understand what a woman needs in this area. I also can say that women do a poor job of expressing what they need in this area. I have heard this statement in some form sooooo many times. "Well if you don't know, Then you don't really care for me." Women are so much better at feelings and emotions. Their brains are wired that way. If communication isn't present, the relationship breaks down. In my experience, once this happens. The woman will deny the physical intimacy and uses it a tool against the man. 9:57 I was just talking to my wife about this the other day. I have run into this situation from time to time at the grocery store when wearing my wedding ring. I think it comes from 1 of 3 places: 1) She is so use to guys that won't commit to her, that when she sees a guy that she likes who is already committed she ignores the fact that he would have to break his current commitment to be with her, 2) It is a challenge to see if they can steal a guy away from someone else, and/or 3) They want a no-strings relationship and the fact that he is already attached means they can get the benefits of a relationship without actually being in one. All of which indicate the girl needs some time in therapy before talking to any more men.

Not only did I learn more about women, I learned more about myself in the process. I Completely understand that women need to talk and Share to get over Stress, but ladies, be mindful of the time you share. We do need time to ourselves to get through stress. If a woman is talking during the time that his Stress is high, it's going to be very tough to get an emotional connection. "When you realize being feminine will get you more from men..." - I can understand women needed to be more masculine in the work place. Hell many men have to be more masculine than they normally are in the work place. One of the things that comes with maturity is understanding how to properly adjust for a given situation. As people we really do have many identities so to speak. Does a mother treat her children the way she treats her employees if she is a manager? Really hit the nail on the head with the take on Dan Bilzerian. While I do like the _idea_ of "treating oneself like they are their own celebrity," it's also not necessarily based in _reality_ and that's what's misleading about that concept. Sure we can have the "abundance mindset" and walk and talk like we're bigger than we are...but that only goes so far because of reality. In reality, not _everyone is_ a celebrity, and deep down, we know that we only make so-and-so amount of money and we're only so-and-so pounds and so-and-so feet tall. We know we can only project so much and we can't fake everything about our lives. Dan sets unrealistic expectations for men because he himself is rich famous and is able to pay for luxuries and women to hang out with him. That isn't everyone...and it _can't be_ everyone. That's not to sound super negative or anything, but it's to be honest with ourselves and other people because we can only fake so much and it's miles better and easier to just be ourselves and not some fake version of who we think we are.

Also, some people just don’t prioritize texting as much. I agree that if you are pursuing a relationship you should be attentive and engaged in the conversation, but also recognize that some people don’t like to text, so be willing to talk to them about your communication needs instead of just writing them off as a thot and engaging in all kinds of cognitive distortions like convincing yourself that she’s getting blown out by a bunch of other dudes.

I think I've some explanation about question 'why older guys date younger girls?' and it's not all that strange as Courtney pictured it to my view. We live in 2022 and let's facet it, if a girl is somewhat attractive, smart, ambitious etc. that kind of girl is very quickly out of the dating market, and considering dating aps i might even say in a blink of an eye. So yeah, guys are trying to date them in their youth, moreover they don't have that super crazy (as some girls, yes i know not all of them) expectations, money, status, looks and are more of this 'schoolgirl friend' type, fun, just easy to hang out, trying to find first or one of their first love, and well IG put expectations sky high, all this luxury lifestyle, they aren't yet soaked by it and blinded. Many of them don't have tinder or other aps so yeah overall chance of finding good girl in high school let's say for a student are much much higer than on the university. And there's a negative aspect to it like really older guys dating a girls but well it's their choice, that eventuall turns out bad for them. And at the ending i've got some friends that were so focused on education, high grades, studies, work mainkg a good living and they missed it, missed the best part of beeing young, careless love in high school, escaping form lessons to go on a trip, hugging girlfriend on the campfire near the lake with their best pack of friends around them, partying when it's sth new and they try to taste it even a bit beeing with younger girl, and it's quite sad when you think about it :/

I get that we as men need to give women the space to be feminine but there’s a dynamic that I think is missing from that sort of conversation. Men don’t like or even know how to compete properly with women. We can compete with other men because there is an underlying threat of physicality and that keeps things in order. At the base root of it, when we compete with other men, we are competing with other “hunters”, other “providers”. I’m not saying this is all how it should be btw but when we compete with women we get kind of confused because women are simultaneously being the ones we’re trying to provide for/trying to show that we can provide and hunt for, and also they’re being the providers and hunters themselves. If a woman enters a relationship in a masculine frame, then she makes it so that we try to compete and provide for her at the same time which is impossible. We then try to bridge the two concepts and wind up providing her with things and getting out of her way which looks like subservience. Many women enter relationships in a masculine frame and expect the men to make room for them to be feminine. But, since the woman is competing, the man makes room for her in the only way he can but instead of becoming feminine, she becomes hyper masculine. Bottom line, men and women need to become masculine and feminine respectively outside of the relationship first and then they can come together properly within one. Ladies, if you want a leader, you have to be a follower. Gentlemen, if you want a follower, become a leader. Thanks for coming to my TEDTalk.

I think one reason older men have trouble with women their age is they still have a high school mentality when it comes to relationships and rather than work on that they just look for someone with their level of maturity. Slow maturity is largely why I haven’t had success on the dating front even in high school. I briefly had a girlfriend in middle school which gave me unrealistic expectations about relationships.
@PeterKoebel2 жыл бұрын
Regarding men "don't know how to talk to their spouse.", It's not all on the men. Both sides need to make the effort to communicate. Primarily, active listening. If a spouse is hyper critical or makes everything about themselves, the other partner might not want to "talk" much with their spouse.

I have posted women’s profile photo’s on my Facebook account and I’ve rarely received a comment on them. We’re not afraid of being lambasted. We’re afraid of being labeled a misogynist. Since we know any negativity towards women can be a turn off for them. Also the cat is out of the bag, we know women check out our social media when they first take interest. So us men feel it’s best to forego any negative comments about women. The funny part is is I like to look at a woman’s social media when we first get matched just to get an an idea of what they’re about and any potential red flags. If message them through their social media after we’ve matched on dating site their like, “How did you find me?”. How did I find you?? It’s a public profile, how the hell do you think I found you? lol. I had one woman tell me I was basically stalking her. Most of the stuff I see women post is very hypocritical as us men have the same frustrations with women’s profiles. Women do it so much that I think us men just turn a blind eye to it. If I had a dollar for every time I came across a woman’s profile that only had photos of nature or their body parts (like their feet), I’d be able to take a nice vacation. On one woman’s profile photo she had her coat draped over her head to hide her face. The point of dating profiles is to try and sell yourself to a potential suitor. If you don’t have photos showing yourself, you’re just wasting everyone’s time.

I have difficulty with talking to my wife properly too. It also goes the other way, women don't talk to men properly. Like what my mother-in-law says to both me and my wife, just keep our mouths shut. Attraction comes a lot of times when we say nothing. Our own mouths get us into a lot of problems.

Re: 30 yr old guys dating 17 year old girls. I'm a high school teacher and I don't see it either. Sure, they may look cute, but they're still kids--their mental/emotional maturity level isn't there yet. That 30/17 spread would be gross in the power imbalance and also the two of them wouldn't be able to connect intellectually/emotionally. It'd be a very shallow relationship.
@katherinekelly64322 жыл бұрын
The duality of the universe cannot be ignored but human beings exist on a spectrum. Feminine men and masculine women have existed for a very long time, and they often find each other to form relationships. A feminine woman needs to avoid a feminine man for a partner just has a masculine man needs to avoid a masculine woman for a partner. This just creates conflict and eventually apathy. Know yourself and your natural energy. There is a difference between attraction and lust. Lust burns hot but it also burns out, where attraction endures. A masculine man will lust for a masculine woman because he is attracted to that part of her that is within himself just as she will for him. This would be fine if the relationship remained only sexual but becomes problematic when it tries to be more than that. This is also true for a feminine woman that has a sexual relationship with a feminine man. He will be a delicate considerate lover but lack that energy that will deeply excite and satisfy her and inevitably she will leave him for a masculine man or suffer the consequences. Never violate your natural energy. We are born predisposed with these energies, and they strongly influence our sexual energy. The feminine man and masculine woman is evolutions answer to creating complexity so human beings become more than just instinctual creatures.

I am 27, so I agree going after high schoolers is a no-go. Having said that, past that age, I wouldn’t think a guy dating a younger woman is a loser(ex. 32 year old guy and 23 year old woman.) Quite the opposite, that lets me know the guy probably takes care of his looks, has his fitness down, some sort of career success (men get judged HARSHLY on our finances past 25.) and charisma. He must have something going on if he could outcompete other guys in their 20s, which are the prime years physically for men. Bad analogy, but I think of cases where older players like Brady in their late 30s, early 40s outcompete guys in prime years.
