Your series on Le Thiers knives was wonderful and because of your fine work, I have added Le Trappeur, Le Compagnon and Le Compact to my collection. Thank you for the inspiration Stefan. They are my favourite folders and I switch back and forth among the three as my EDC knives. Such elegant and beautiful cutlery!

@thelockkk As you can see on the photos at the end of the video, these knives are made by skilled craftsmen.

Wandert in meine Messer Playlist !!! Ciao

Thanks Stefan, I've very much enjoyed this seris of reviews. Certainly it is given me an interest in aquiring some French knives at some point.

Lovely blade. Little large for my needs, at least for such an elegant design. Very well built nonetheless. I really enjoyed your review of this fantastic series of knive.s

@floridafyme I wipe the wooden handle scales down with a dampish cloth. I never dump them in water or hold them under running water.

I consider knives of this quality, objects d' arte, although I would use them for light duty. How do you suppose the wood scales would withstand washing,eg. exposure to water?

@An0nEeMouse They are separate pieces.

Wonderful review. Stunning workmanship. Thank you for creating this. It was my understanding that locking blade knives were illegal in most European countries. Is this not the case in France, or are these knives sold only for export to other countries?

Great series, Stefan. I think this is the first 'arc' for a set of knife reviews I've seen! This knife seems to be problematic: as you point out, it's not really meant for hunting for a variety of reasons (cleaning, ergonomics of skinning, etc.). So I wonder if the name is marketing purposes only... or if once upon a time, it really was used by hunters.

I don't know about France but here in Germany this knife is legal because it is a two-hand opening knife.

Could you do some reviews or show some Navajas from a traditional company? I want one, but I don't a Chinese fake or an antique. Many hanks for your help:)

Hello, Officially it is forbidden to wear a locking blade knife in France. Only knives such as the traditional Laguiole are authorised. ( not the locking blade models ) However, it is permissible to wear a LB knife where its application is justified. For example: hunting, fishing, hiking, collecting mushrooms in the forest ect But wear a LB knive in the metro will always be considered suspect. (But tolerated for a traveler if the knife is in the bottom of his bag)

They are not illegal, just you can't carry them in most countries in europe without a reason.

I have to say that calling that a trapper knife is not being very honest. It is beyond a doubt a mighty fine knife but....really, a hunting knife it is not. Maybe a backup.

The more I think about it, what the Americans call the "tactical" community, the Europeans call the "hunting" community. And the business people take note. :o)
