Coutellerie GOYON-CHAZEAU : Façonnage de manches

Partir d’un carrelet de bois plat et arriver à donner une forme arrondie au manche nécessite un sacré tour de main.
Guidé par la soie et les mitres du couteau, ou du couvert, et surtout par son savoir-faire, le façonneur travaille le bois sur différents grains de bande, en « balançant » le manche et en apportant plus ou moins de pression sur la bande.
Le manche devient ainsi homogène, EQUILIBRÉ, sans facette.

HANDLES SHAPING
Starting from a flat wooden piece and achieving to a rounded handle requires a lot of skills.
Guided by the tang and the bolster of the knife and especially by his know-how, the shaper works the wood on a different grained strips by « swinging » the handle and applying more or less pressure on the strip.
The handle thus becomes homogeneous, BALANCED, without facet.
