Okay I've been screaming about this idea for years: This, but modular! The chassis provides 9V to a dozen or so slots, the pedals trade 1/4" jacks for Molex connectors or something so you can pop effects in and out or move things around. No more velcro, no more power supply spaghetti, no more batteries, no more jumper cables. Building a neat board takes minutes instead of hours.
@ArtoriusGuitarNerdАй бұрын
@@IAmSippycup yeah that is a cool idea, I’ve seen it done with guitar pickups but it actually makes more sense to do it with pedals.

Yamaha sold a whole line of pedals based around this concept in the early 80s. All of the pedals in the PSE series had pin headers on the back that provided power, i/o and CV input for using an external expression pedal. The SB-200 pedalboard could hold 11 pedals, with a patchbay that let you access the input, output and CV input for each pedal, plus a few other things. It would cost a few thousand dollars to get one and enough pedals to fill it, if you could find one at all. Better that than a Klon Centaur, though.
@IAmSippycupАй бұрын
@@mudsh4rk Whoa, I'd never heard of that, thank you! I can see why it maybe didn't fly though: Guitarists have their favorite pedals and don't want to be locked in to Yamaha's ecosystem. I was thinking like an open standard kind of like what API did with the 500 series format. Now anybody can make preamps, EQs, or whatever else that fit the lunchbox format. Plus you gotta keep the artwork on the pedals so guitarists can collect gear like Pokémon cards.
