Thank you this post. Sexual sin leads to spiritual death. One can only wonder at the state of the spirtual life of those who in the hierarchy who do not practice sexual purity and support and condone those who openly embrace sexual impurity. At Fatima Our Lady said to St Jacinta, "most soul go to Hell because of sins of the flesh". Our Lady also said to St Jacinta, " people go to Hell because there is no one to make sacrifice and to pray for them". Let us make sacrifice and pray for the Church and the salvation of souls... 🙏🙏🙏

From my own experience, I get the definite impression that too many bishops pay lip service to safeguarding, health and safety etc. but somehow don't regard the safety of their parishioners and priests as their own personal responsibility. They are all too willing to delegate the task to experts, often from outside the Church. But the experts need the man at the top to be actively on board and driving the program in order to do their jobs I know this from my own past experience in health and safety in industry, if the management are indifferent, that's very little you can do to improve things.
@royquick-s5nКүн бұрын
Figure, regardless, whether an abuse case is immoral, both clergy and laity of a parish or a diocese are going to be concerned about liability. That concern, I suggest, has been behind cover-ups, other than the guilty trying to cover their tracks.

If a pope publicly speaking Ex Cathedra introduces heresy, there is a case for forcing his removal. What about criminality? Isn’t setting a wicked example and protecting evil as bad?
@DeathbytrollКүн бұрын
If the Pope were to speak heresy Ex Cathedra it would falsify Catholicism. Him being “removed” isn’t official teaching it’s just speculation.
@royquick-s5nКүн бұрын
If I am not mistaken, one of the things about declaring a docrtine to be infallible ex cathedra is that it has been believed in the Church beforehand. Also, it would seem, the doctrine would not conflict with pre-existing moral beliefs. You do raise the question, if a pope went off on the deep end, how would it be dealt with? I suppose some think the cardinals, enough of them, would act. In history there has been intervention of monarchies and convoking of councils. Sometimes multiple papacies resulted.
@AlasPoorEngland20 сағат бұрын
@ Well, there are those who think the papal throne has been vacant since 1958 and I’ve come across a bloke who argues that it’s been unoccupied since some time about 1250 - can’t remember which pope he picked as the one who dethroned himself! All who accepted the baddie automatically fell out of the church themselves … the old Catholic Encyclopaedia has an article, I think under MENHORTER or something similar,which reports on a group that dethroned some pope about 1813 for being too lenient on some matter in continental politics … this is all based on memory as I can’t access the relevant sources … many sedevacantists today hold Pius XII to be the last true pope … apparently you don’t need a declaration to deny someone to be the Pope, you just use logic to help you decide the matter, and then withdraw allegiance … I don’t know how many papal claimants there are today, perhaps more than a dozen … it’s all very weird!

It is no surprise that these men do nothing about this horrendous series of crimes. "Birds of a feather flock together" Crimes against the Faith - heretical depravity - are much worse - in a different category altogether; and those who commit them automatically lose their office and all jurisdiction. Why? because a heretic is not a Catholic - a non-Catholic, a man who is not a member of The Church, cannot hold any office in the Church. To say that such a person can remain the pope is to be guilty of heresy against the dogma of the Indefectibility of the Papacy and the Roman Pontiff. +

Unfortunately John Paul II in 1983 changed the Code of Canon Law for sins against the sixth commandment be punished by suspension, and that further penalties can gradually be added including dismissal. The 1917 Code had harsher penalties including suspension, publicly declared as having committed sexual misconduct, and deprived of any office, pension, dignity and function if they have any, and in graver cases, dismissed from the clerical state.

What has been happening, raises thought from those who do not like it, what can be done about it. The pope is elected by a little over one hundred cardinals appointed by prior popes, to which he has added his own appointees. All of the bishops are appointees as well. It is surpising what disagreement does emerge from councils and synods made of those appointees. All, though, is subject to approval of the pope. It would seem the only thing that would bring change is open disagreement that all has gone right by majority or plurality of those appointees, which seems remote. A pope still could carry on with minority allegiance anyway. It seems some (many?) are placing hope that the voting cardinals will select a successor more to their liking. What is the probability that will happen from voting cardinals who elected the pope being replaced and to whom the pope being replaced has added appointees of his liking?
@56247Күн бұрын
The issue is not to get a Pope more to our liking; rather a true Shepherd that teaches and promotes the Catholic faith. To that end, we must pray for the Holy Spirit's guidance.
@royquick-s5nКүн бұрын
@@56247 That raises by what measure and by whom is it determined any pope is "a true Shepherd and promotes the Catholic faith"? Consider of what a synod consists, appointees, clerical or lay. I think some think of a synod consisting of elected representatives. Is the idea that there could be elected representatives anti-Catholic? I understand that in the Early Church bishops were elected by clergy and laity. Nation conferences or councils of bishops may vote on issues, but, subject to Vatican approval. The bishops, too, are appointees.

There’s a lot of trouble in the Catholic Church because you people are putting all your hopes and trust in a man the pope and the bishops to be your guide, which is wrong. The Holy Spirit is a guide for all who want to really do God’s will by doing what His word says in the bible, with the help of the Holy Spirit. The more the Catholics and all who call themselves Christian’s read and obey God’s word and do what it says, and not do what man says, to pray the rosary etc. God will be pleased.
