Just buy a role of velcro and use the rough side, it will stick to the carpet really firm and can be adjusted indefinitely

When working at the factory, after repairs, during test drive for noise and vibration, many times “extra” clips would fall in there and give us techs a good run for the $ diagnosing the noise😅

Thanks for this video. I had this sound for a few weeks and found the answer on Reddit. I then searched KZbin and found your video. I went out and drove the car with the carpet pulled on the passenger side. When turning, I saw a glass marble rolling to passenger side. It was a pain, but I got it out after a few minutes with a chopstick. I plan to cover the vents and seal that carpet to prevent it from happening again. Definite design flaw right there.

yeah that does seem like a questionable design. A mesh and little moat in there seems better. If it has a slit hole at some point in the vent floor then sand and such would presumably fall through and wouldn't hinder airflow particularly. Bernoulli airflow.

I use silicone cauk and aluminium flyscreen mesh to solve many issues, you could use instead of buying vent cover. silicone is marvelous stuff

I've got three kids and started hearing a little plastic ball sound in the vent as I turn left and right. Fantastic! I was hoping you'd get into how to remove that but I asked Tesla and they won $350 to do that hence me doing research. Why wouldn't Tesla provide a screen for these vents. Dumb.

Yeah, this is awful... You could try accelerating real hard. If it's on the right spot it could work. Also a really flexible vacuum hose could do it.

I fixed it, but long story short, someone dropped an M&M in that vent. Every turn for three weeks I could hear that M&M roll from one side of the car to the other. I couldn't find it and it was driving me crazy. By luck the M&M got stuck on something underneath the carpet on the metal bottom of the car and I found it (3 weeks later)@@mmark300

Ooof! I think there's a magnet in the case, so you can try to get one of those telescopic magnets. Have you tried accelerating real hard? Just don't brake real hard after...

Thanks to my kids some marbles got into my air vent and the rolling around is driving me nuts. Flooring it has not solved the problem. Do I have to remove the seats to get them out? If so how can I do it? Is it safe for me to do so? Tesla are not covering it under warranty unfortunately and they are charging $500 just to remove it which I can’t afford right now. Please help!

That's brutal! You would have to take the seats and carpet out then I'm still not sure if you could easily get into those vents. I would try to find a flexible grab tool thing with a camera on the end of it. Maybe just an endoscopic camera with double sided tape on it would do it.

Try to accelerate really hard to get it as far back as possible and you may be able to reach it. And try not to stop hard at all after accelerating... Also could use one of those flexible camera snakes to see where it is

If something goes in that vent, here's a thought, just turn the air on on high for the vent. It blows out and problem is solved.
