You could probably use toilet paper dipped in watered down pva to make the tarp instead, it also adds some neat texture and the pva hardens it AND helps it stick really well.
@jherazob

Paper towels wouldn't crumble apart just draping them, would work better, but wet wipes are probably altogether better that either

I did consider dipping it in pva but I just felt like it would be messy but for sure paper towels would be okay, so would like an old t-shirt etc

Brilliant! I'll try making some of these as Legion terrain. I might paint some in white camouflage and sprinkle with snow effects. They'd add some much needed interest to a Hoth landscape, maybe as a rebel or Imperial depot. It's a great way to use that growing mound of spare/ left-over bits and pieces I've amassed in the garage over the years. Environmentally friendly too. :)

This is a cool idea, I never thought to use wet wipes. I did something similar with printer paper. Took some juice cartons and blueberry containers, then draped the paper over top and ran the sink over it to make the paper soft. Folded and shaped the corners from there, carefully so I didn’t tear the paper, which it did a little in some spots but I rolled with it and was able to make it look like tears in the tarp. Used a little twine to make it look like ropes were holding the tarp down and just a quick and dirty paint job. I’m gonna try making more now like you did here, I’m happy with the big objects I made but for smaller ones, this method definitely makes the most of whatever you put underneath.

I heard of this kind of terrain years ago and meant to make some, then forgot. The idea back then was using actual cloth, but this is easier and cheaper, I really should make some...

The texture is just awesome. Good idea! But I feel like it lacks just a little bit more easy-to-do details that could "sell the idea" a little bit more... [spoilers] The use of static wipes is genius. The few sandbags holding everything are great, I'd add some ropes to tie everything and make a few with half lifted covers to see what's under. Also I'd use square shaped sticks for pallets (round ones makes no sense), and maybe some diamond plate plasticard for the base (or just stick some thin cardboard rectangles / shapes) to add even more texture. Details, details everywhere!
@TerrainMadeEasy
@TerrainMadeEasy 3 жыл бұрын
In Dark Matter Workshop's video I mention he makes some straps and they look great. Oddly in the two videos I mention they do everything you talk about. So Dark Matter workshop does straps and diemond plate texture card. And RFD does proper pallets using lolly pop sticks. I do like details but I was trying to pair this one back to simplicity and low cost and easy :)
