I think you need a guy like Sam to make the show more compelling. Sure morning zoo shows are having "fun" but they don' have much substance. Sam is a modern version of Opie, he was trained by Opie after all. I think Sam complements Jim quite well. He tolerates Jim's quirks with laughter which allowed me to view Jim differently. When Jim was smothered by Opie I didn't find him as funny. Look how Chip took off with Sam there. Sam can be serious when needed and silly when needed. Albeit Sam does have the most annoying laugh.

Jimmy: "I didn't think it was that big a deal". Exactly. A major part of this is that Rich & Bonnie think everything they do is the equivalent of "Thriller". Guarantee they thought when the word got out that their show was taken off Sirius, there'd be all this outcry from their friends and the listeners. Guys, Jimmy admitted here that he didn't even listen to your fucking show, and wasn't sure you were even getting paid for it. And that's from one of Rich's best friends. So imagine how important it was to everyone else - like not much. Rich & Bonnie live in a little bubble of self importance, and when the world doesn't act accordingly, they assume all these conspiracies are going on. Bonnie is nuts. I don't care if she's occasionally funny or edgy or whatever. She has an endless list of beefs and drama with people, and she's just more trouble than she's worth. Rich's friends and colleagues tolerate Bonnie's shit because they know if they don't, they'll lose access to Rich. For all Rich's wisdom about mental health issues, AA, etc., he's completely blind to how truly crazy his wife is. What he labels "loyalty to his wife" is really co-dependence. Rich also passive aggressively uses Bonnie as a constant loyalty test for his friends and colleagues. Rich insists on shoehorning Bonnie into EVERYTHING he does, and when she drives people crazy and they fight back, Rich interprets that as disrespect for him. It's so funny that Rich and Jay Mohr don't get along because they have almost the exact same relationship with their wives. And like Jay Mohr, when Rich and Bonnie split up, Rich will finally talk about what a nightmare Bonnie really is.
