Of course this song has an *INSANE* bassline because it's written by the bassist. It's like a song that's got an amazing drum solo because the drummer wrote it.

@@mauro3856 Funnily enough. Bowie came to visit Queen in the studio and asked what the tune for a hypothetical song that they do together would be. John did the bass riff for Under Pressure there and then. Then they all went out for drinks and afterwards agree to record to the song. But John had forgotten the riff. Luckily, Roger remembered it 😅

BECOME A PATRON TO GET SONGS/TABS: www.patreon.com/coversolutions Tuning is higher than usual. A=455 so you need to carefully tune up a little bit (it's not quite F, it's actually about half way in between). Simple line but getting the tone will be harder that you think. Try and play with lots of roundness on the right hand (using more finger to pluck). Key is E Minor (with some use of modal interchange, according to my judgement): E Minor Natural i Em (E G B) or Em7 (E G B D) ii F#dim (F# A C) or F#m (F# A C#) from E Major (modal interchange) III G (G B D) iv Am (A C E) or Am7 (A C E G) or A (A C# E) from E Major (modal interchange) v Bm (B D F#) or B7 (B D# F# A) from E Harmonic Minor, creates tension back into the tonic (I) VI C (C E G) VII D (D F# A)
@PinochleIsALie
@PinochleIsALie 6 жыл бұрын
Is the tuning different or is the recording sped up? I know that's a trick Motown used a lot to make a song feel more energetic, and Pearl Jam has a similar tuning/speed quirk in Even Flow (drop-d, then everything a quarter sharp).

Oh, let's go Steve walks warily down the street With the brim pulled way down low Ain't no sound but the sound of his feet, Machine guns ready to go Are you ready, hey, are you ready for this? Are you hanging on the edge of your seat? Out of the doorway the bullets rip To the sound of the beat Another one bites the dust Another one bites the dust And another one gone, and another one gone Another one bites the dust Hey, I'm gonna get you, too Another one bites the dust How do you think I'm going to get along Without you when you're gone? You took me for everything that I had And kicked me out on my own Are you happy, are you satisfied? How long can you stand the heat? Out of the doorway the bullets rip To the sound of the beat Another one bites the dust Another one bites the dust And another one gone, and another one gone Another one bites the dust Hey, I'm gonna get you, too Another one bites the dust Hey Oh take it Bite the dust Bite the dust Hey Another one bites the dust Another one bites the dust oww Another one bites the dust hey hey Another one bites the dust eh eh Oh shooter There are plenty of ways that you can hurt a man And bring him to the ground You can beat him, you can cheat him You can treat him bad and leave him when he's down But I'm ready, yes, I'm ready for you I'm standing on my own two feet Out of the doorway the bullets rip Repeating to the sound of the beat oh yeah Another one bites the dust Another one bites the dust And another one gone, and another one gone Another one bites the dust Hey, I'm gonna get you, too Another one bites the dust Oh shooter hey hey, all right

This song is the equivalent to Smells Like Teen Spirit in terms of difficultly for bass. Not gonna say that one's harder than the other, but bass can get super hard depending on the genre

It’s not so much as one is more difficult than the other. They are just two different instruments with different roles or functions. There’s less fretboard to learn on a bass is probably the only easier thing about it. It depends on what type of music I suppose as well. For example, learning to be an intensely solid jazz bassist is infinitely easier than learning to be a punk rock guitarist. Yet, learning to play JS Bach’s lute suites on guitar would be worlds more difficult than learning to play funk bass.

I got that backwards. Learning jazz bass would be way more difficult than learning punk guitar.
