This is my first real set, finding it quite friendly to someone new to the sport.

Like for Lishi tools? Bc I have like 7 different ones. Figured I could skip the Genesis tools, grab this one and try to make room for my Lishi sets. 🤔

I grabbed this set as I had just gotten into lock sport. For a beginner, it has been an awesome set to have! Thinner picks have allowed me to practice picking all the locks I need to.

You can put the ergo turners in the right thin pocket between the center and the flap. Then when you close it, be sure the bit end is between the first and second pic from the right. Hope that makes sense.

Dang, nice suggestion! I didn't even notice that was technically a pocket, but it works 😁 I put some of my bent wiper blades in the other side

The thin slots where the pouch folds would probably be a good place for the bent turning tools so the would lie flat when the pouch is folded up.

Great tutorial. I recently bought the Genesis kit. To my surprise, I pick my three locks in no time flat. I wish Covert Instruments sold pick and cases separately but can't seem to find them if they do. Am Handicapped and find the handles to be very comfortable. Myy only trouble is feeling the pins set.
@SadisticPicker6 ай бұрын
Just need abit more practice and you’ll get hang of set pins. Maybe take out a few pins so ya just have three and work on just the feeling of set pins. I promise this will help after a few hundred sets😉. Hope this helps homie🤘😎

I ordered one of these for their July 4th sale for the case and I can always use more picks. Especially since my Dangerfield Praxis set sprung a leak and I lost some of my .20 stuff. My Multipick locknoob Ayoob would look nice in there but it broke 3mo. after I got it exactly where it meets the handle. Raked and pulled the cylinders on 3 5-pin Schlage (very quickly, it does work very well on certain bitting) to re-key and the fourth locked up hard on a forward stroke and it snapped surprisingly easily at the handle. I am wary of the sandwich handles as a result but I am keeping an open mind. The Praxis and Polaris set has withstood over a year of picking/raking in use locks without any issue.

I picked up the TOK ergo turners (the original set has 4 different thickness options) last fall when I realized that -- at the time-- Covert Inst. was the only company making such a turning tool. Not sure if that's changed, but glad to see them included in a standard kit like this. Great review as always.

What a coincidence! I just received mine this week along with the genesis set and other tools and practice locks. I was surprised how small these tools were. On youtube they seemed huge! 😅 I wish I got the Lishi tool for SC4 and AM5 as well as the two decoders for combination locks

I like this as a pocket set and carry it regularly with a few additions; I added a snake rake (Southord Max in 0.020”), a snowman, the covert genesis picks with their tensioners, and a broken key extractor. The Southord Max picks in 0.020” are great picks and about the perfect thickness, size, and strength. I like the kit as a good grab and go as it can do most all I need to do.

🎶In echelon we carry on. Oh, nothing will stop the Air Force. Oh, nothing will stop the US Air Force. Air Force!🎶 Seeing the name of this pick set made me think of that song, and Doctor Who was NOT my introduction to the song. I knew the song prior to seeing that particular special, and I loved hearing it in there because I love that song. There was a time where the lyrics said Army Air Corps instead of US Air Force, but that would've been WW2 and for a little while afterwards until the name change occurred.

Is there a functional difference between top of the key way and bottom of thr key way? Or is it just user preference?
@stygianumbra4 ай бұрын
I find that TOK works best but BOK is usually easier to execute. Sometimes on Schlage I notice it BOK will bind on the bottom of the hull because of the shape of the warding making it harder to get feedback. Realistically it's preference for whatever works best for a solid engagement and full feedback which in my opinion is the most important part of picking like prep before paint. TOK is more likely to apply even force but can be pulled out by your pick easier or rotate out under counter rotation because less tool is actually inside the plug typically. BOK usually applies the force further from the center which can cause more vagueness in your tension feedback. It also provides less room to maneuver under low set pins to reach high set pins without over setting the low pins with the shaft. I don't really pick for sport or hobby though, I mainly pick in use locks (legally) so that's what I have learned so far from experience, make sure you read up in other words.

I do like CI tools, the only problem is the postage. I normally only order when they have sales, so I can do a bigger order and makes the postage worth it. Then you get slapped with charges from HMRC.. Suppose its swings and roundabouts. I would order more if the postage could be lowered. Take Care ⭐️
