That Toralf combo kill was so wicked. Probably only rarely happens but it's such an endorphin rush when it does.

it's mostly how the deck wins but more often through "deal X to every creature" (think burn down the house on a wide board) type effect where it creates a ton of extra damage to redistribute to face

I'm currently building it for commander and it revolves a lot on bigger red mass damage spells like chain reaction, blasphemous act, etc but I hadn't thought of the compounding effect with fiery emancipation to turn a shock or lightning bolt into lethal

ahahaha! I'm laughing SO HARD at a show turning into 98 dmg to face, that is an insane combo :D :D
@archerjagv29932 жыл бұрын
@@nikoboivin try searching for double damage and red cards on scryfall, there should be 7 or 8 cards that you can use plus the fiery emancipation. The boardwipes are hard since toralf itself dies and then you don’t have his triggers, since Toralf isn’t there anymore to deal damage. Edit: Nevermind it works like you wanted, you just can’t profit further after the first “wave” of triggers.
@nikoboivin2 жыл бұрын
@@archerjagv2993 oh no I’m well aware and already have a few of them in the deck (plus Torbran for good measure). Was giving fiery as an example and the most likely to be able to snowball into a deadly shock but yes, very valid point!

As much as i agree theres problems with arena, i wouldnt call it the developers fault, not only is it likely they have way less control on how they want things to run (usually due to administrative positions or higher ups making those choices) but WOTC is known for paying their workers less than industry standard for "having the honor to work with them".
@archerjagv29932 жыл бұрын
Paying below standard is not just wotc, the whole game development sector is hugely underpaid compared to what programmers would get in literally any other company. Where people like their work, you can be sure to find some greedy company to get them to work for such bad conditions.
@jasonm.64422 жыл бұрын
actually, matchmaking pairing mirrors probably IS one of the things the dev team worked on. I'd be very surprised if WOTC management made that call. Things beyond Devs control would be which cards get added, art, and monetization from the shop, rewards, etc.

Honestly, loved the rant. MTGA's devs and game design direction does not get enough discussion in the community at large. The sound bug really should have been fixed by now, and the poor matchmaking expiriance and abandonment of card animations really makes me sad. Wizards really has to be making bank on this game, would a little reinvesment and love put back into the game really cost that much? Anyways, huge fan CGB, keep up the good work!
