I’ve become a better magic player because of CGB. He’s been able to put us in the head of a skilled player every day for a long time. This guy is a rockstar as far as I’m concerned. No other streamer is on his level. The closest would be Jim Davis. He’s pretty good at talking out his logic. But CGB is still levels above him. If you wrote a book on how to be a better player, I’d buy it.

Some cool tech with Divide by Zero and Meathook Massacre I hadn't thought of till today when I finally used it - if you're in a pinch, return the Meathook to hand to drop it again. The fact that Massacre is a permanent makes it so much more flexible than I anticipated
@andrewmarinelly58383 жыл бұрын
I've had 1 match up that it was useful but that whole tech idea seems win more to me. In most match ups besides mono white (which a meat hook either saves you or your chasing mana as the gain life and kill you) the real match up that you want that for is blue-black/mono black and if your life total is low and so is there's removing it allows them to kill a permanent and not lose life or sacrifice and not have you gain. My point is if you're at that point of the game which I have multiple times the only time it worked as intended was against a vanishing verse to kill the kaya tokens as a bonus replay. Divide to me belongs as the stall life gain/ stall card draw is great but deluge is a must too.
@casualenjoyer54203 жыл бұрын
@@andrewmarinelly5838 Yeah, it's definitely niche, but I wouldn't say it's "win more". Sometimes you're in desperate need of a second sweeper without one in hand, Mono White can rebuild incredibly quickly and it's the most popular deck in Standard at the moment. Scrambling to find another sweeper is generally done when you're behind on board and need a reset. My point is that Divide is so great because it's the most flexible spell in the format right now, you can even use it to manipulate stack triggers to get around snakeskin veil when using kill spells (personal favorite).
@andrewmarinelly58383 жыл бұрын
@@casualenjoyer5420 I love divide too, just not sure with this deck. This deck is sustained value unless answered for several turns. Usually a tempered version wins out in mirrors and overtime and i agree i was wrong in what i was trying to say when i said win more but I'm just not sure about divide in this deck. it does have so many uses and three mana isn't hard to come by mid game. i can't honestly think of a better card in best of one but when i look at it it seems like there should be a better card in that slot.
@casualenjoyer54203 жыл бұрын
@@andrewmarinelly5838 I'd agree that at 3 mana, it definitely feels like it's power level is just not that strong for the rest of the insanely good cards that it's surrounded by. I'd love to have another value engine at the 3 drop slot but until I craft Briarbridge Tracker, I think I'm gonna be playing Divide still. At the moment, its a highly flexible bounce spell that tides you over until you hit end-game. The learn is nice though, and to be honest, I love having access to my Lesson board. Even if they're mediocre cards at best, fetching up specific answers for certain scenarios just feels very blue mage to me.
@WoRMaSTeR643 жыл бұрын
I grinded to Mythic last season with UB control. Have 2 Meathooks and 3 DIvide by zero. Played over 300 games and knew about the interaction from the beginning. It has never been the right play/come up/win any game. It is beyond niche interaction. Mono W you wipe their board once they are done since you have spot removal and counters for the rest of it. I have never seen a comeback from their side at least against my deck.

@@valentinegodek4681 not ramping with Binding because lack of forest is painful
@jpfister853 жыл бұрын
@@valentinegodek4681 It's simple. The decklist has exactly 3 basic lands in it. Meanwhile it runs 4 Binding the Old Gods (did you see the match where he played only 2 of those things and the 2nd one didn't even hit when he was only even playing them for the ramp in the first place?). It also runs Field of Ruin, which fetches basic lands, it also runs 3 man lands that are vulnerable to being killed with enemy Field of Ruins (which also fetches basic lands). Then as if that wasn't bad enough the sideboard has TWO COPIES OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES! When will those ever find a land? Answer. Never. It's even funnier when you remember all the times CGB has himself made fun of his opponent for not running enough basics and leaving them vulnerable to Field of Ruin as a land destruction. And don't forget, this is a control deck so it's already much more likely to expend fetch cards. Were I adjusting this mana base I would cut the Pathways down to one-ofs each and crank up the basic lands by a lot and use a full set of FoR as color-fixing. Just watch the matches, that mana base caused a lot of trouble.

@ 25:25 you had another option, if you wanted to be safe, and trusting your instinct they won’t draw another creature or Wrenn, and also they don’t have creature lands. You coulda Divide By Zero onto either Wrenn or Binding, and replay those cards making/ destroying either the tree folk or making a treefolk, the safest one would be to recast binding, and destroy the treefolk, and using the learn to get Mascot Exibition and i believe you have enough mana to either play it as well, but if not you woulda been able to continue on for 2 more turns and survive while having blockers and the land creatures to closed the game. But what you did was good too.

I take it all back: I just ran this deck for 10 games and got a 25% win-rate... As a blue-white Mage, I’m really happy this deck lost to it.
