I'm surprised just how great Faebloom Trick was. I kept assuming it was a mana too expensive for Standard. The tempo swing and especially the synergy with Spell Stutter and Curiosity is strong.

In a meta where 1-2 MV singletarget one-for-one removal spells are abundant, Faebloom Trick produces not one but TWO separate 1/1 fliers that need to be dealt with separately. This also produces two separate attackers that each individually trigger Enduring Curiosity, digging deep and stocking your hand. If you have the guts to facetank an attack from your opponent and ignore the benefit of tapping an opponent's creature before combat, you can completely dodge sorcery speed removal and sweepers and force an attack through on your own turn, especially with Kaito to replace one of them for 4 (or sometimes more) damage. Or you can tap down any additional blockers they play after they feel safe in attacking, additionally punishing them on your own turn with creatures on the ground you were forced to hold back until now, such as manlands or Floodpits Drowners. The unique combination of timing, tempo, and value all wrapped into one card produces something that is truly more than the sum of its parts.

MTG's Standard is definitely moving in the same direction Yugioh did, where Creatures are now doing everything better than what other card types used to do instead. So you have to run absurd amounts of instant removal (the MTG equivalent to Yugioh's handtraps), to stop the opponent steamrolling you as a result. It's not good.

Too many players complained about control (counter spells, board wipes, large card draw) so now everything is creature based and turning cards sideways. It's now a racing game instead of rock/paper/scissor. Green, black, and white have better draw than blue. Counterspells are only played by midrange to protect. Everyone needs to have a turn one removal or you lose. They would need to print something similar to supreme verdict and better/cheaper sphinx's rev or ban 2-3 cards from aggro and midrange decks for control to be tier 1. Right now the "control deck" is just tokens with board wipes. The token engine draws more cards than any blue deck can.

"Because if the opponent resolves a one mana creature and you don't kill it you lose" is the damn truth but also you should have tacked the word "immediately" on the end of that because you give it a turn or two more and it'll either be out of reach thanks to Sheltered by Ghosts ward effect and/or one open mana for Shardmage's Rescue, so large already from pump spells that you'll die anyway if you kill but don't exile it, joined by a Manifold Mouse they can just pump for lethal instead even if you do kill the Heartfire Hero by then, or some combination of the above.

Brawl still gives xp for the mastery pass, which is way more packs than the handful that come with grinding the ladder every month.

Wish I could just craft and play any deck I wanted, but I have to commit to specifically using wildcards to build one deck every six months it feels like.

what I don't understand with the standard meta is that most powerful cards are enchantments, yet there is almost no enchantment hate used. Granted this hate might be lacking, but still. In comparison when reanimator/graveyard decks rise, graveyard hate instantly comes to shut them down.

I can definitely understand the struggle to keep making standard decks. It feels a bit stale to me as well right now. I would love to see an actual commander video sometime. Like where you just do a deck tech for the whole video and break down the deck, then maybe throw some gameplay in there by sitting down at the table and playing with your friends. Would watch that over standard any day of the week. To me 100 card brawl just feels like commander want a be, that's just my take though. Will definitely glance over at your brawl videos though, to see if maybe it can pique my interest back for it again.

the double clicker bug is devastating, I got bounced out of a draft at 5/3 when I did something similar, I spent awhile in the tank thinking all the options through and eventually realized I had exactsies with fleeting flight so I used it, went to declare attacks and then clicked to send my flyer just as instinct but realized it was better to use the all attackers button, I swear I hit it but just my flyer went and I lost, after that I got them to 1 but still lost. Magic is infuriating enough when you don't run into ui issues, self created or not and it's hard to think of a solution

Jeskai control seems ok. Roaring furnace and this town ain’t big enough combo well together. A few sweepers. Zurgo and Ojutai. Union third path. It’s not perfect but it’s grindy, no counterspells. Counterspells are just bad in BO1 meta…😢

Standard got bad 'cause now it's all aggro, removal and turn 3-4 ends the game quite often. I would suggest going into Explorer instead as it's far wider format and you can make really awesome decks. For me, however, the issue is more with gameplay rather than what's being played. Some 3 days ago I played with a friend around 8 or 9 games in total. Lost each time to the aggro cats as managed to only play as first 2 times, where 1 time it was another deck and the other my hand was crap. Playing physical games is way more fair as we take turns going first. In Arena, you are fcked way too often to consider this game as enjoyable - either rigged matches where you have no means of winning or being flooded every 3rd or 4th game (which happens way more rarely when playing table top MTG). The best parts though are when you have only two 5+ mana cards in the deck, yet you draw them more often than what's considered a fair probability. Until they fixed this unfair shit, MTGA is done for me and my friends. We'll stick to table top and play good old decks, when magic really was a good game.
