The debate should be renamed as Globalist vs Nationalist or Neo-liberal vs Realist. I expected Shashiji to be more innovative who would come with new points ,but he was just been emphasizing current global order which everyone knew (who reads news daily). Rajmohan sir came up with some innovative points which I have never read and his points seems to be more relevant since at this time it is important to save your country first,then think about the world.

Gr8t discussion. Yes I think the resultant power struggle between china n usa has dividing lines between usa n their allies. China is as powerful as old world order of usa. Chinas regretfull aggressive rise...i.e. flooding world markets, withholding health n human inequality...is causing this rift. The old order seemed more inclusive, as opposed to china shut door policy. India needs to choose a side. These sides were existant the difference is today is, china is open and gun hole about its overwhelming power.

Shashi should stop being an analyst. He would rather be an ENGLISH professor in some college. Modi is more realistic, he has stopped talking about jobs and economy. He knows that India has lost the economic race to China, so he is concentrating on hindu-muslim divide. Problem with Indians is they think that anyone speaking good ENGLISH is an analyst. India is just a conglomerate of 30 or 40 poor countries lumped together. The sooner they are given independance, the better for entire South Asia.

U a victim of decolonization...education is the food that sustains the very poor. It uplifts society to the extent, where the poor c value in their lives....yes we indians r world class thinkers, not doers....

@hasan mahmood yea sure Countries try and strive for excellence ..yes indian has a proportion of its population as poor ..but it also has a considerable proportion of it's educated middle class which will continue to drive it's economy ...I don't know from which side of border u are but INDIA is destined to be superpower in 50 yrs
