COVID-19: Singapore begins month-long circuit breaker period

Most workplaces across Singapore have shut, as the country begins a "circuit breaker" period in the fight against COVID-19. The stricter safe distancing measures will be in place until May 4. Under the new rules, all workplaces -- except those providing essential services -- must shut for four weeks, and it means about three in four workers across the country will either work from home or stop working.The city's usually bustling financial hub has been brought to a standstill.

Circuit Breaker (Singapore), Movement Control Order (Malaysia) = Lockdown. Both governments create new term just to avoid panic but it is basically the same thing - LOCKDOWN.

The govt should also consider public wearing of masks to be compulsory for everyone. This is double protection for all - if one contracted the virus coughs while walking pass you, the virus would have to pass through his mask before reaching yours - so it is double protections.

Still, my experience today, traffic jam on the road, a lot of people drive car. Many people work as usual. To be honest, no idea if this circuit breaker can cut the infection chain.

Circuit breaker will lead to total lock down here if ppl are out unnecessarily. Just go for groceries and take away food and things will be back to normal.

Be Prepared for 3-4 month lockdown, the chain will not completely break. Still too much activity, F&B and home delivery should be considered non-essentials and close down. Learn to cook at home. Case numbers will just hover around 25-75 cases per day. Govt cannot afford anymore neither can they unlock if community cases still remains at this limbo level of spread (worst position to be in to make decisions as its neither here nor there). Enjoy the holiday guys, its going to last more than 30 days. I am looking at the ground situation from what I know, not the arbitrary lockdown period the govt has set. The govt will grow very impatient after 60 days if we are still in this lockdown position.
