Name: Covigne River Gorge
Location: Chagaramas Trinidad and Tobago
Classification: 5/10
The hike Covigne Gorge is the perfect location to test yourself moving from easier hikes to those that involves climbing over rocks, navigating slippery rocks and through waterways.
The hike starts off at the Samaan Park and follows a road through several other attraction that could be easily accessed.
Then road then moves from paved to broken and then a trail. Its around this point you'll cross a river and begin the trek to the gorge and pool.
Along the way you get to observe interesting designs as tree roots work their way around the walls of the river we are walking through.
The actual gorge itself greets you with a deep pool to navigate across, once across you work your way through and around the curves carved by water. After climbing two smaller falls, you emerge to see the pool carved into a rock that you climb up to.
The pool is deep but a swim across allows you to climb up further and explore two more smaller falls.
Although i have seen people treverse this area alone or groups without guides, it is recommend you accompany someone who knows the area or an experienced guide as you are going up a gorge with the potential for rains on the mountains to cause a flow of wster down at you. As usual, proper safety equimpent is recommended.
