What is the name of this machine you are using to soften your hide?

what oil did you use to preserve/protect the sanded side? I have inherited old fur hides. I dont know if I need to oil them now and then over the years? How do you care for them?

You can use neets foot oil on any hide to condition and keep them soft.

@@thegrahamstead Ive been reading that since there a bit of water in it, that after a while the skin would dry and crack with Neetsfoot oil? Any thoughts?

Have they been tanned already? If so I wouldn’t think they’d have any water in them. Im pretty new to hide tanning though and only have experience with a handful that I’ve tanned myself.

They are old tanned fur pelts. Still flexible but wondering if I need to oil them to keep them “healthy”.

@@tinagodsey1023 I’d think neetsfoot oil would be the best thing for them
