Now the whole mystery is explained! Cows are brilliant- and very cute!

Superb, the tie into 2001:A space odyssey is genius!

Very nicely done, but I admit I was confused. I assumed that the tool would fall on the main character's head, but never heard the expected "splat" during the closing title card. What did I miss?

Thanks for watching! The final shot is a reference to the scene from 2001: A Space Odyssey where an ape throws the first man-made tool in the air and immediately cuts to a spaceship floating in space. I didn't think about what would happen when it landed, but that would've been funny!

@@lookitsanotherthing Yep! I did recognize the homage. 🙂 I was only 3 when that came out, so my folks wouldn't let me watch it then. The book made far more sense, to be honest. How long did this 2:34 video take you? I'd imagine forever!

@@d4b Short videos like this take me about two weeks to make the puppets/sets/props and then film.

@@lookitsanotherthing That's pretty impressive; I had guessed it took months. 150 video seconds, maybe 10fps, so about 1,500 frames, maybe 15 seconds of movement per frame, so 6+ hours of actual filming, plus of course Everything Else. All complete guesses, of course, based on absolutely zero knowledge of the craft, other than watching Davey and Goliath rather than Stanley Kubrick when I was growing up.

I think this is another failed attempt to make sense of what is probably Larson's greatest work. I have to let you in on the secret: it is not about cows. Its is about hilariously failed attempts (sound familiar?) by untalented people trying to do something beyond their abilities.

Jeez bro, talk about condescending. What did you ever do, or more specifically, create?

I think this is another failed attempt of trying to seem smart on the internet. I’ll let you in on a secret: the video was a perfect recreation of the far side comic and captured the hilarious nature of a cow trying to make tools. You could have just said you didn’t like the video, but saying that it was a failed attempt to explain the comic reveals your own ignorance. The creator is creating art and you’re making cow tools.
