I think the worst part about this is that in the live action it shows how terrified Spike is when he gets thrown out the window the whole reason why spike isn't scared in the original is because he doesn't care if he lives or dies
@goeticfolklore Жыл бұрын
Right the whole central idea is he has been dead since he lost Julia. He has died a million times, but isn’t figuratively alive until he literally dies with her. That’s why making her a villain makes 0 sense in the live action. She’s central to his arc

Because women can't be metaphors or ppl might be offended cause she isn't "more". Julia was always a shallow character. She played off of spike. Without spike she would legit be nothing. Spike gives her character meaning and because of that Julia gives spike background. I'm very liberal let me state this. But there are too many writers afraid of making a woman anything less than starring role or plot twist in fear they'll be called out for thinking less of women cause they aren't the starring role.

Thats the best way of putting it. I liked the remake of this scene up until when Spike falls. They completely missed the metaphor. In the anime he's seeing everything through his "eye that stays in the past". There are just soo many obvious issues when you have a side by side comparison. For one, the dialog and action is hugely rushed. There's no care given to the emotion of the scene; allowing each word and feeling sink in and pervade the scene. It's a recreation of a scene without understanding the underlying motivations and emotions. Do they even understand WHY Spike is fighting Vicious? Spike doesn't care about himself; he isn't here to save anyone. He's here to right a wrong he created in his past: running away and allowing Vicious to take over. He's here to clean up a mess he created. If they means his life is forfeit, then that's how it is. Spike is not a man who cares about anything anymore. For all he knows, he has lost everything just seeks to make something right from all the wrongs. Adding Julia to the scene totally muddles the emotions and ruins the ending.
